In a unique effort to promote public transport and gather firsthand feedback, Delhi’s Transport Minister, Shri Kailash Gahlot, personally experienced the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus service today. Embarking from the Jantar Mantar bus stop, he chose bus number 729B, journeying through the city to Police Colony, Mehram Nagar. He purchased a digital ticket through ONE Delhi app and while interacting with passengers, he also explained them how to use the app. he elaborated on various features, including digital tickets, real-time bus tracking, and the process for filing online complaints through the application.

During his bus rides, Transport Minister kailash Gahlot engaged with passengers, attentively listening to their feedback and addressing their grievances. Subsequently, he continued his journey by boarding another bus on route number 764, reaching Najafgarh to participate in the Hanuman Sunderkand Paath.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of public transportation in mitigating pollution in Delhi, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot appealed to the Delhiites, saying, “I urge the people of Delhi to prioritize the use of public transport. This not only saves money but also contributes to a cleaner and greener city.”

Expressing his satisfaction with the firsthand experiences and suggestions gathered from passengers on Delhi Transport Corporation’s electric buses, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot reiterated the government’s commitment to providing world-class, state-of-the-art pollution-free transport services.

As of December 2023, the Delhi Government’s fleet had 7,232 buses, comprising 4,391 operated by DTC and 2,841 by Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS). Currently, 1300 electric buses serve the citizens of Delhi, with plans to add an additional 500 more this month. The daily ridership in buses for the year 2023 stood at an impressive 41 lakhs. In a notable move, the Delhi Government offers free travel for women on its buses, issuing 147.8 crores pink tickets by December 31, 2023. The year 2023 witnessed an average of 10 lakhs female passengers utilizing this initiative daily. The government remains dedicated to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly public transport system for the residents of Delhi.
