The transformative initiatives spearheaded by the Kejriwal Government to enhance employment opportunities for students in Delhi’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) have yielded exceptional results. According to the latest placement report, government-run ITIs in Delhi have recorded an impressive 72.3% placement this year.

Among the 19 ITIs under the Delhi Government, ITI Vivek Vihar and ITI Dheerpur have recorded 97% and 94% placement with students securing positions in renowned companies across India. Some of these companies include Hero, LG, LnT, Bharat Electronics, Tata Group, etc.

It is to be noted that the Delhi Government currently runs 13 Co-ed and 6 women ITIs in Delhi.

Sharing about the success of ITI students, Technical Education Minister Atishi said, “The placement numbers of Delhi ITIs are the result of Kejriwal Government’s focused Placement Strategy for these institutes. Our commitment to providing quality technical education and ensuring robust placements has resulted in empowering students and bridging the gap between education and employment.”

She added that the Delhi government, under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal, is dedicated to nurturing a skilled and employable workforce by aligning education with industry demands. The government aims to create a thriving ecosystem where students can seamlessly transition from classrooms to careers.

Technical Education Minister said, “To ensure better placement opportunities and industry exposure for ITI students, the government has formed the Centralized Placement and Industry Outreach Cell. This cell has adopted a transformation strategy for Placement, aiming to modernize the placement approach by focusing on academia-industry collaboration, career services, flexible learning options, entrepreneurship support, job fairs, and more.”

She added that the primary objective of this strategy is to bridge the gap between traditional education and the evolving needs of the workforce, fostering a dynamic and industry-aligned placement ecosystem.

What is the Delhi Government’s transformative placement strategy for ITIs?

-> The strategy for enhancing ITI placements focuses on upholding a commitment to delivering a robust skill education foundation, for which teachers are being trained through ToT programs.

-> Secondly, the focus is on intensifying collaboration with local industries to offer valuable exposure to students through industry visits, internships, and on-the-job training.

-> Thirdly, developing career services encompassing resume building, interview preparation, and soft skills training.

-> Fourthly, facilitating flexible learning options to align with the evolving job market.

-> Lastly, establishing a Centralized Placement and Industry Outreach Cell.

It is to be noted that 19 Delhi ITIs offer courses in 61 trades, of which 38 are engineering trades and 23 non-engineering trades.
