The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) states that, in an attempt to crush the peaceful protest, the BJP’s Delhi Police, was active from Thursday. On Thursday evening, Delhi Police called several leaders and activists of the party to the police station, while instructing others not to leave their homes. Senior AAP leader and Delhi’s Cabinet Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj remarked that the BJP, claiming to be the world’s largest party, was openly caught in the robbery of votes in a small Chandigarh Mayoral Election. Similarly, senior AAP leader and MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak mentioned that on Friday morning, several AAP legislators were placed under house arrest, and police strategically parked their vehicles in front of buses carrying partyworkers. Unfortunately, the BJP, after engaging in vote theft in the Chandigarh mayoral election, is now not allowing peaceful demonstrations against it.

Cabinet Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj, and MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak held a press conference at the party headquarters. During this, Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “What happened in the Chandigarh mayoral election is now seen by the entire country. The BJP, considering itself the world’s largest party, was openly caught while committing the robbery of votes and dishonestly marking them invalid in a room during a small Chandigarh mayoral election. The video clearly shows BJP-appointed presiding officer marking votes with a pen, making it invalid, during the counting in the Chandigarh mayoral election.”

Meanwhile, MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak stated that the BJP’s police have been causing distress to AAP party workers, office bearers, and the public across Delhi since last night. Around 4 to 5 PM yesterday, all their SHOs and IOs called AAP workers, gathering information about those participating in the demonstration. Subsequently, around 8-9 PM, the Delhi Police called several party workers to the police station and visited the homes of many. Today, they have turned the entire Delhi into a kind of jail. AAP leaders, including Mukesh Goel, Deputy Mayor, and the MLAs from Krishna Nagar, have been placed under house arrest. Additionally, several other legislators and representatives have been arrested. Buses carrying AAP workers are being stopped. Various videos on social media show police positioning their vehicles in front of buses, completely emptying them.

The AAP MLA revealed, “At present, the BJP, through its police, is perpetrating such brutality across Delhi. This is highly unfortunate. Everyone has seen how votes were robbed in the Chandigarh mayoral election, resulting in the BJP mayor being elected. Today, even peaceful demonstrations against this are not being allowed. Cruelty is evident even against this peaceful protest. Perhaps, even during the British era, such incidents may not have occurred. People often say that the fight between AAP and BJP is a ‘political battle’ and has nothing to do with them. But here, it’s not just about politics; it’s about democracy.”

MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak said that it is becoming clear that if you oppose anything related to the BJP or don’t support any of their actions, you will face consequences. Whether you are from the Aam Aadmi Party or even from the BJP itself, if anyone opposes BJP’s actions, they will face consequences. Actions will be taken against them, involving dishonesty or any means to act against them using power, money, legal action, or other methods. The BJP and Narendra Modi’s government are conveying that if you are with them, it’s good, but even a slight opposition will lead to crushing through the help of police, ED, CBI, and other government agencies.

“It’s concerning to think that if they can manipulate in such a way in a small election in Chandigarh, then if they see themselves losing in any election across the country, they might resort to even more wrongdoings. All citizens of the country, whether affiliated with the AAP or not, should think about their country. Our country is a democratic one; shouldn’t we have the freedom to peacefully demonstrate? Everyone who supports this cause should come out of their homes. What Delhi Police has done today is just a trailer; in the future, thousands of such activities will take place, turning the entire country into a kind of prison. This is a very unfortunate situation,” the MLA concluded.
