New Delhi, 26th March 2024;

The Maha (grand) rally of INDIA alliance to be held at Ramlila Maidan on March 31 to support CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and save democracy will be historic. The Aam Aadmi Party has intensified preparations to make the Maha rally a historic success. AAP’s Delhi state convenor Shri Gopal Rai said that students, youth, RWAs, NGOs and social organizations are being invited to attend the rally in Delhi. On March 27, party office bearers and councillors will hold meetings with the public at all the polling stations in Delhi. From March 28, 2600 teams will go door-to-door inviting people to come to Ramlila Maidan. At the same time, ministers and MLAs have been made observers, who will go to the assemblies and review the preparations for the Maha rally. He said that if today the dictatorial government can remove the elected Chief Minister, then tomorrow it can remove any person who raises his voice. Now this fight has become the fight of every person who loves the Constitution and democracy of the country.

The Delhi State Convenor stated, “The elected Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, was arrested by the dictatorial government of the BJP. There is outrage in the hearts of the people of Delhi against this arrest. Even the BJP people are saying this in hushed tones that this arrest is wrong. Political animosity keeps going on between parties, they have their differences and arguments, but the arrest of a sitting Chief Minister is a clear declaration by the BJP that they don’t believe in democracy.”

The senior AAP leader also lashed out at the BJP-led central government for misusing the police force. He stated, “When the ED reached the CM’s residence, the force deployed in the area was much more than the number of people present in support of the CM. The Chief Minister’s residence was converted into a police cantonment. When we reached the BJP National Headquarters the next day (March 22) to protest against the wrongful arrest of the CM, police were deployed at every nook and corner of the entire area, the AAP headquarters was sealed. AAP workers, who were peacefully protesting and expressing their outrage, were dragged and detained, irrespective of their age or gender. The next day (March 23) when the workers reached the Shaheedi Park, on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, to pledge against the dictatorial rule of the BJP, the park was sealed off and people were arrested. Today, on March 26, when people were marching towards the residence of PM Shri Narendra Modi to protest against the arrest of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, to ask him questions about the wrongful arrest of a sitting CM, the bail of Sarath Reddy, and the BJP’s scam of Rs 55 crore, they were detained by the police. Women were dragged and arrested. Today, Delhi has become police cantonment.”

“If the BJP-led central government, its leaders, its ministers, and the Prime Minister of India believe that hiding behind the police would save them from answering our questions and it would stop our movement, then they are underestimating us. People of India and Delhi love Shri Arvind Kejriwal. You (BJP) have arrested Shri Arvind Kejriwal in a fabricated case and the whole nation knows it. The man (Sarath Chandra Reddy), based on whose testimony Shri Arvind Kejriwal was arrested, was granted bail and you (BJP) received Rs 55 crore in your account, this is your game. You have been exposed in front of the entire nation,” he added.

He further stated how the BJP-led central government, by imposing Section 144, has turned Delhi into a police state. Addressing the central government, he said, “I would like to say this to the central government that you cannot stop this movement using your police force. Our voice is reaching the entire country, our next target is to make it louder through the mega rally by the INDIA Alliance on March 31 at the Ramlila Maidan. Prominent leaders from the INDIA alliance from across the nation will be joining this rally. People from Delhi will reach the Ramlila Maidan in huge numbers at 10 am on March 31.”

Shri Gopal Rai stated that they have started planning the strategy for this maha rally. “Till March 31, we will meet people and invite them to peacefully raise their voice against this dictatorship in Ramlila Maidan. As preparation, today we are holding a meeting along with all the AAP MLAs and councillors, all the legislative assembly officers, ward officers, Mandal officers, and booth officers, as we move towards the preparation of this mega rally. Tomorrow, our assembly in-charge, MLAs and councillors, along the people of Delhi, will gather at more than 2500 polling stations to prepare for the March 31 rally. From March 28 onwards, one in-charge will be appointed for each Mandal team, each of these 2600 in-charge will get their own Mandal team, and each team will go door-to-door inviting people to gather at Ramlila Maidan on March 31.”

“Along with this, all the social organizations of students, youth, labourers, farmers, RWAs, business organizations, are being invited to reach the Ramlila Maidan to protest against this dictatorship. This is our appeal to all of you because today if this dictatorial government can arrest the sitting Chief Minister, then the day is not far away when no one will be able to raise their voice in front of them,” he said.

Shri Gopal Rai added how this fight is not of one person, one party, or the INDIA alliance, this fight is of every person who loves democracy and Constitution of India. “It is my appeal to everyone to join the protest at the Ramlila Maidan in huge numbers to fight against this dictatorship.”

The AAP Cabinet Minister also discussed the action plan for preparation of this mega rally. He stated, “We have also appointed various observers to ensure that the preparations are in full swing. For this, we have also appointed observers from our AAP MLAs and ministers, who will be visiting different constituencies to review the preparation and to monitor the progress. The responsibility for this has been given to our senior AAP ministers Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj, Shri Imran Hussain and Shri Raaj Kumar Anand; State Vice President Dilip Pandey, MCD in-charge Durgesh Pathak, Mayor Shelly Oberoi, AAP spokesperson Shri Sanjeev Jha, State Vice President Kuldeep Kumar, State Vice President Rituraj Jha, State Vice President Jitender Tomar, MLA Mukesh Ahlawat, State Vice President Rajesh Gupta, and our candidate for Lok Sabha from South Delhi Shri Sahiram Pehalwan.”

These leaders have been appointed as the observers of the preparation for the mega rally, they will review and monitor the development on the ground. We believe that March 31 at the Ramlila Maidan will be a historical day and our voice will be heard throughout the nation, he said.
