Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday tore into the BJP-led Central Government over its handling of the E20 fuel policy, saying it has adopted an arrogant and inflexible approach by refusing to address public concerns. He said people across the country are demanding the option to choose between E10, E20, and pure petrol, as well as lower prices for E20 fuel, but the government is unwilling to provide either. Pointing to widespread complaints of reduced mileage and vehicle damage linked to E20 petrol, the AAP Supremo said a responsible government should listen to the voice of the people instead of dismissing their concerns and insisting that everything is fine.
Addressing the issue, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “I watched Hardeep Puri’s interviews on two or three media platforms where he was giving clarifications on the ethanol issue. He clearly said that people will not be given any choice. People are saying that when they go to a petrol pump, E10, pure petrol, and E20 should all be available so that they can buy whichever fuel they want. But he is saying that no choice will be given.”
The AAP Supremo further stated, “People are saying that E20 petrol should be cheaper than normal petrol; only then will they buy it. But Hardeep Puri is saying that petrol will not be made cheaper.”
He added, “People are saying that their engines and vehicles are getting damaged, but he says he does not believe anything is going wrong and that everything is fine. People are saying that their vehicles are giving lower mileage, but he says he does not believe that mileage has reduced.”
Appealing to the Prime Minister, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I want to tell the Prime Minister that such arrogance is not right. This amounts to authoritarianism. When crores of people are raising their voice against something, it is the responsibility of any responsible government to listen to them. Listen to the voice of the people. Otherwise, this is not right.”
