NEW DELHI | The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly criticised the BJP’s Rekha Gupta government over the murder of a 22-year-old youth in Mandawali, saying his family had been forced to protest outside the police station to seek justice. Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar said the accused remained absconding and were threatening the victim’s family, while the police were refusing to listen to their complaints. He said the free rein given to criminals under the BJP government had turned Delhi into the “crime capital.”
AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar said, “The murder of 22-year-old Vansh in Mandawali village is an extremely serious and tragic incident. The family has said that the accused have been absconding since the incident and that they are being continuously threatened. The entire family and local residents are sitting outside the police station with just one demand: that Vansh get justice and strict legal action be taken against those responsible.
He added, “Delhi should be a safe capital, but rising crime is turning it into the ‘crime capital’. I demand that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the Delhi Police take immediate cognisance of this matter, provide security to the family and ensure strict legal action against everyone involved in Vansh’s murder.”
Kuldeep Kumar further said that following the open murder of 22-year-old Vansh in Mandawali village, the criminals had fled. “No one has been arrested so far, and those who plotted the murder are moving around openly. The criminals are threatening the family, forcing Vansh’s mother and other family members to sit outside the police station seeking justice. The family says they are receiving threats, but instead of taking action, the police are driving them away, while the SHO is telling them to let the police do their work,” he added.
Kuldeep Kumar asserted that CM Rekha Gupta should see that under her government, the people responsible for murders are not being arrested. “Today, it has become common for people to stage prolonged protests outside police stations in Delhi just to get justice, because the justice system in Delhi has now completely collapsed. BJP CM Rekha Gupta should take cognisance of this matter because her police and her government are protecting criminals. Therefore, such criminals should be immediately sent to jail,” he concluded.
