NEW DELHI | Ahead of the upcoming Punjab elections, AAP Punjab Sah-Prabhari and former Delhi Water Minister Satyendar Jain has been arrested in yet another false case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has hit back at the BJP, declaring the arrest as another instance of the ruling party using political power to target its opponents to score some political points in the election-bound states. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the previous case against Satyendar Jain was fake and this case too would be proven false, pointing out that the BJP is using arrests and false cases as a tool of political intimidation. He asked how long the BJP’s dictatorship would continue, asserting that the party’s “paap ka ghada” and that the end of the Modi government is certain.
Taking to X, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated: “Satyendar Jain ji has once again been arrested at the behest of the BJP. Just some time ago, everyone saw the condition they put him through by sending him to jail. The previous case was fabricated, and this case too will be proven to be false.”
The AAP Chief further asked, “How long will this BJP dictatorship continue? Whoever they want, they put behind bars by levelling false charges. Their lies will once again be exposed before the country, but who will compensate for the time he will spend in jail and the mental harassment he will have to endure?”
“The BJP’s ‘paap ka ghada’ have now filled to the brim. No matter how much dictatorship they resort to, the end of the Modi government is now certain. The entire AAP and the people of the country stand firmly with Satyendar Jain,” affirmed Arvind Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia stated on X: “Just before the Punjab elections, Punjab co-in-charge Satyendar Jain has been arrested. Earlier too, he was kept in jail for 2.5 years in a fake case, and now again… another fake case. From the Gen Z movement to issues like alleged donation irregularities at the Ram Temple and E20, the BJP, cornered on multiple fronts, has once again fallen back on its old electoral tactics of using the ED, ACB and CBI.”
In a video message, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated, “AAP Punjab Sah-Prabhari Satyendar Jain has been arrested. The BJP government’s policy is to disrupt, obstruct and put pressure on any government that works. Before the Delhi elections, AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and I were arrested. The sole objective was to disrupt the Delhi elections and win them by any means necessary, using every possible tactic.”
The AAP MP pointed out that the same thing is now being done ahead of the Punjab elections. “First, Sanjeev Arora was arrested, then indiscriminate raids were carried out, and today once again Punjab Sah-Prabhari Satyendar Jain, who was working to strengthen the organisation there, has been arrested. All of this is being done to influence the Punjab elections because the BJP government at the Centre is rattled. PM Modi and Amit Shah do not know what to do in Punjab. They have tried everything they could, but still cannot figure out how to deal with the situation.”
Highlighting AAP Government’s works in Punjab, Sanjay Singh said, “The AAP government in Punjab has delivered excellent education, provided free electricity, implemented a ₹1,000–₹1,500 scheme for women, started pilgrimage programmes for senior citizens and provided medical insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh. After seeing all this work, the BJP has realised that it has no chance of making headway in Punjab, which is why these tactics are being adopted.”
Sanjay Singh said, “I want to say just one thing to PM Modi: the entire country is watching this dictatorship. The way the Prime Minister is targeting the AAP and getting its leaders arrested and sent to jail one after another, the entire country is watching. The cup of sins is now full, and the people will certainly respond to these actions and this dictatorship.”
In a post on X, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj pointed to the Delhi’s BJP government’s ₹650 crore health scam, ₹90 crore cycle scam and rice scam worth hundreds of crores. “These are open-and-shut cases, yet Satyendar Jain has been arrested in a completely fake case,” he added.
Former Delhi CM and Delhi Assembly LoP Atishi stated on X: “The arrest of Satyendar Jain is yet another example of the BJP’s political vendetta. He was previously sent to jail by being implicated in a false case, and now the same story is being repeated once again. In its arrogance of power, the BJP may have forgotten that there is a limit to lies and oppression. Government power may be used to intimidate someone today, but the truth cannot be suppressed forever. This is not just Satyendar Jain’s fight. It is the fight of every person who stands against the misuse of power. The AAP stands firmly and strongly with him.”
Taking to X, AAP National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda stated, “How much more evidence is needed to prove that the BJP is afraid of the AAP? The Delhi Jal Board tender they are referring to was issued at a time when Satyendar Jain was in jail. Tell us, how could he be responsible for something while he was behind bars? The real reason is that Satyendar Jain is the AAP’s Punjab Sah-Prabhari and elections are approaching in Punjab. Coward PM Modi, at least have some shame.”
In another post, the AAP National Media In-charge stated: “The tender was issued in October 2022, while the BJP had already put Satyendar Jain in jail in a fake case back in May 2022. This is a baseless conspiracy driven by political vendetta. The BJP cannot face the AAP in Punjab through an electoral contest, so it has chosen to arrest the party’s Punjab Sah-Prabhari instead.”
