NEW DELHI | Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the Parliament complex on Friday, demanding action against ‘vote chori’ (vote theft) and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Sanjay Singh was stopped by the police while on his way to Parliament and objected, saying they could not prevent an MP from entering the complex. After being allowed to proceed, he sat in protest in front of Bapu’s statue and said that the country would see the end of dictatorship and that PM Narendra Modi and Gyanesh Kumar would have to go.
On Friday, AAP MP Sanjay Singh left for Parliament along with some supporters. During this, the police stopped him. He said that a Member of Parliament was not being allowed to enter Parliament. “When the police stopped me in front of Rashtrapati Bhavan, I started the protest right here. Modi has deployed his entire police machinery to protect vote thief Gyanesh. The people will drive the vote thieves out of power,” he said.
Sanjay Singh further added, “Today, on the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, I am present under Bapu’s statue in the Parliament complex. To reach this very Parliament, PM Narendra Modi, in collusion with Gyanesh Kumar, has carried out large-scale vote theft and deleted the names of 13 crore 37 lakh people from the electoral rolls across the country.”
He continued, “The BJP has carried out similar vote theft to gain power in the Legislative Assemblies of different states as well. Today, when voices are being raised against this vote theft, people are not being allowed to speak.” He highlighted that arrests are being made at various places and democracy is being openly murdered.
The AAP Rajya Sabha MP stated, “Bapu awakened the people of the entire country against the cruel rule of the British. Today, on his birth anniversary, I am praying to him to give the people of this country the strength to fight these black Britishers. May Bapu give the people of this country the strength to stand firmly against vote theft and the dictatorship of PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar.”
Sanjay Singh concluded by appealing to all the people of the country to raise their voices from wherever they are and unite to fight against vote theft and the BJP’s dictatorship.
