Two days after launching its student wing ASAP (Association of Students for Alternative Politics), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has shifted gears and announced new state Prabhris (in-charges) and Sah-Prabharis (co-incharges) across 11 states, signalling a major organisational expansion ahead of 2025. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has made it clear—his mission to institutionalise alternative and result-driven politics is now going national.
On Thursday, AAP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sandeep Pathak released the official list of new appointees, who have already assumed charge. The move marks a decisive push to strengthen AAP’s grassroots structure and prepare for an aggressive nationwide political mobilisation.
According to the list released by the AAP, senior leader and former minister in the Delhi Government Jitender Singh Tomar has been appointed as the Prabhari for Madhya Pradesh. Former MLA Rajesh Gupta has been entrusted with the responsibility of Karnataka Prabhari, while Rituraj Govind, also a former AAP MLA, will take the same responsibility of Himachal Pradesh.
In other appointments, Mahendra Yadav has been named Prabhari for Uttarakhand, Dheeraj Tokas for Rajasthan, and Prakash Jarwal for Maharashtra.
Further, in South India, the party has appointed Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar as Prabhari for Telangana, former Delhi Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi for Kerala, Pankaj Singh for Tamil Nadu, and Praveen Prabhakar Gaur for Ladakh.
In addition to these appointments, AAP has also announced Sah-Prabharis for Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Senior leader and former MLA Dilip Pandey has been appointed as both Overseas Coordinator and Sah-Prabhari for Uttar Pradesh. Anil Jha, Vishesh Ravi, and Chaudhary Surendra Kumar will also serve as Sah-Prabharis for Uttar Pradesh. In Uttarakhand, Ghanendra Bhardwaj has been named as Sah-Prabhari, while in Himachal Pradesh, Vijay Phulara has been entrusted with this responsibility.
Speaking on the development, AAP’s National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda said, “AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal is continuously working towards strengthening the party’s organisational structure. Just two days ago, he launched AAP’s student wing ASAP, and now we have announced in-charges and co-incharges across the country. Arvind Kejriwal envisions taking alternative and work-oriented politics to every corner of the nation so that it may genuinely serve the people.”
“Mainstream political parties have inflicted enormous harm on the country over the last 75 years by dividing society along lines of caste and religion. In contrast, AAP has delivered on the politics of work—first in Delhi, and now in Punjab—compelling other parties to finally discuss fundamental issues like education and healthcare,” he added.
These appointments reflect AAP’s clear and strategic intent: to institutionalise issue-based politics and prepare the party for a more significant role in national affairs.
