NEW DELHI, March 19

Senior AAP leader and Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi today said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has become a political weapon of the BJP and is now making false allegations against opposition parties. Such accusations, which have been dismissed by the Supreme Court due to lack of evidence, are being levelled against Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal to arrest him.

Bringing this action of the ED to the attention of the media, Atishi said that the ED, now turned into a political weapon of PM Modi and the BJP, is making false accusations. The ED has alleged that Arvind Kejriwal has engaged in corruption worth Rs 100 crore. Similar allegations were made by the ED in the alleged liquor scam earlier. She said that since the Supreme Court has dismissed the ED’s allegations due to lack of evidence, the only reason for reiterating these accusations is to arrest Arvind Kejriwal.

The senior AAP leader said, “ED is acting like a political party instead of a Central probe agency. It is also a big question as to why the ED is doing this under pressure.” The ED has now become a political weapon of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she added.

Atishi said, “If there is one leader across the entire country, across the entire opposition, whom Prime Minister Narendra Modi fears, he is Arvind Kejriwal. And it is because of this fear that PM Modi is using his political tool, the ED, to arrest Arvind Kejriwal before the elections.”

The senior AAP leader said the ED has alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Arvind Kejriwal took bribes of Rs 100 crores and did corruption. But this statement invokes serious suspicions. Similar allegations were made by ED earlier too and the Supreme Court dismissed the allegations, she added.

Atishi said this means that ED has already debated this allegation in the Supreme Court and the court had dismissed this. The ED was not able to produce any concrete evidence in this matter. Now the question is why this allegation is being put again, she added.

The senior AAP leader said, “I would like to say to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if you want to do politics, do it openly. If you want to attack Arvind Kejriwal, then do so openly. If you want to contest elections against the Aam Aadmi Party, then do so openly.”

Atishi said that PM Modi should refrain from contesting elections by using ED. “If you have trust in your 10 years of work, ask for votes based on your performance. Don’t try to remove Arvind Kejriwal from the political arena by getting him arrested through the political ED,” she said.
