In a significant development aimed at enhancing the public transportation network in the city, the Transport Minister of Delhi, Shri Kailash Gahlot inaugurated the new route 711A by flagging off bus today from Old Nangal in Delhi Cantonment. Local MLA, Shri Virender Singh Kadian, was also present at the occasion. The new route, 711A, will serve commuters by connecting Uttam Nagar Terminal to Sarai Kale khan, covering various important locations along the way. The newly introduced bus route is expected to benefit a large number of commuters from Janakpuri, Tilak Pul, Jeevan Park, Dabri Crossing, Janak Cinema, Desu colony, Sagarpur, Old Nangal and Kirbi Place, making their daily travel more convenient and accessible.

Speaking at the occasion, Transport Minister Shri Kailash Gahlot stated, “Public Transport enables access to opportunities of Health, Education and Employment in the city. In Delhi, nearly 43 lakh people travel daily in the city buses. There has been a demand from the residents for this new route. When it came to my notice, I happily agreed to start the service on the route, as our primary goal is to serve the people of Delhi and provide them a comfortable journey on our buses. The introduction of the 711A bus route signifies our commitment to provide efficient and convenient public transportation options for the citizens of Delhi. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, we are committed to providing Delhiites with safe, comfortable, hassle-free world-class public transportation.”

As of December 2023, the Delhi Government’s fleet comprises 7,232 buses, with 4,391 operated by DTC and 2,841 by Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS). Currently, 1,300 electric buses serve Delhi, with plans to add an additional 500 this month. In 2023, the daily ridership stood at an impressive 41 lakhs. The Delhi Government’s initiative of providing free travel for women on buses resulted in 147.8 crores Pink tickets issued by December 31, 2023, with an average of 10 lakhs female passengers benefiting from this initiative daily.
