NEW DELHI:

Wednesday witnessed a massive uproar in the Delhi Legislative Assembly as members vehemently opposed the unlawful detention of CM Shri Shri Arvind Kejriwal. A display of solidarity unfolded as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs and ministers donned yellow T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan “Mai Bhi Kejriwal.” As the assembly convened, AAP representatives raised their voices against the central government’s authoritarian actions, protesting the arrest of their leader. The assembly premises reverberated with slogans condemning the arrest, as an MLA donned a mask resembling CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and ignited effigies symbolizing dissent against the central authority. One AAP MLA even symbolically portrayed himself in chains, underscoring the oppressive tactics employed by the Modi government to silence opposition voices and erode democratic principles. The uproar led to two brief adjournments of the assembly proceedings, eventually suspending them until Monday, April 1, at 11 a.m. Notably, Cabinet Ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with MLAs Rituraj Jha, Sanjeev Jha, and several others, were present during the commotion.

During this time, Cabinet Minister Atishi said, “We are fighting against the illegal arrest of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. His arrest is not just an attack on the Aam Aadmi Party but an attack on the democracy of the country. After announcing elections, you (BJP) systematically put all opposition leaders in jail. You froze opposition parties’ bank accounts. You seized the offices of other parties. If you attack the opposition in this way, how will the opposition contest elections? If the opposition cannot contest elections, how will democracy survive in this country?”

“The Election Commission is supposed to be an independent institution. It is ironical that the commission can replace officers like the Home Secretary, District Magistrate, and other officials in states ruled by opposition parties, but cannot replace the heads and officers of the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, and Income Tax. It is now clear that they (agencies mentioned) are being politically manipulated.

Cabinet Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said that we strongly oppose the dictatorship of the BJP. The way our people are being targeted during elections. Our top four leaders are imprisoned, and we are being prevented from going out. The police are behaving brutally during the protest. Even the media is not being spared. During the demonstration on Tuesday, a journalist’s hand was fractured. A senior police officer put his hand around a journalist’s neck. These people are crossing the boundaries of tyranny. There is an ongoing attempt to put pressure on the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and ministers to create pressure on the Aam Aadmi Party. There is an attempt to topple the Aam Aadmi Party government. There is an attempt to put pressure on the MLAs. But the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs will not be afraid, will not bow down, and will not stop. In the coming days, the whole country will stand against the arrest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal.

The BJP is now rattled how CM Arvind Kejriwal is running the government from jail: Dilip Pandey

*Timarpur MLA Shri Dilip Pandey mentioned that there was a big misconception within the BJP that after the arrest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, he and his party would vanish. However, people who benefit from the policies of the Kejriwal government, those who love him, and those who support him have taken to the streets. The BJP still does not understand that Shri Arvind Kejriwal is the person in this country who says what he does and lives up to it. His life is dedicated to the country, whether he is in jail or outside. Now, the BJP is facing difficulty in understanding how Shri Arvind Kejriwal, even while in jail, is directing, and how the government is functioning. How are they fulfilling their promise of serving the people of Delhi? In reality, the BJP is making all this noise just to divert attention from the real issues.

Arvind Kejriwal is in every household; If these people imprison one Kejriwal, there will be lakhs of Kejriwals on the streets: Sanjeev Jha

AAP MLA from Burari Shri Sanjeev Jha said that in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, we protested by wearing masks and T-shirts of Shri Arvind Kejriwal. These people can imprison Shri Arvind Kejriwal, but how will they imprison his ideology? Today, every person in Delhi says that I am also Kejriwal. If you imprison one Kejriwal, there will be lakhs of Kejriwals on the streets. Arvind Kejriwal is now in every household. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested based on the statement of the accused Sarath Chandra Reddy. But the accused Sarath Reddy himself has given ₹60 crore to the BJP. If we look closely, the money trail has been found. In this case, the Home Minister and the Finance Minister should also go to jail.

Despite the model code of conduct, the strongest voice of the opposition, CM Arvind Kejriwal, has been put in jail: Rituraj Jha

During this time, AAP MLA Shri Rituraj Jha said that the strongest voice of the opposition, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been put in jail even after the model code of conduct was in place. Meanwhile, Sarath Chandra Reddy is receiving bail by giving money. The BJP has become a bigger thief than the looters of Somalia, which takes money and grants bail.
