The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday hit out at the BJP government over the rising deaths of children falling into open drains and sewers, pointing to the Rekha Gupta Government’s criminal negligence. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said that Delhi’s four-engine BJP government has turned into a ‘Vipda’ (disaster) for the city, sleeping while open drains claim innocent lives.
Citing the recent tragedy in Welcome where a child died after falling into a drain, Saurabh Bharadwaj remarked that it appears there is no government in Delhi—children are dying, yet no one is held accountable and no action is ever taken, with authorities merely resorting to cover-ups after every tragedy.
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj has said that children are dying after falling into open drains in the national capital. “What greater proof of the failure of the so-called four-engine BJP government could there be? Because of the BJP government, yet another innocent life has been lost. In Delhi’s Welcome area, a child died after falling into an open drain,” he said.
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief noted, “In the last three months alone, more than 30 people have lost their lives in the national capital due to the negligence of the BJP government. Many people have already died by drowning in drains, yet instead of taking action, the Rekha Gupta government is busy covering up the matter.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj further said that on Friday, in the Nizamuddin area, due to waterlogging from the rains, the roof collapsed inside the Dargah Sharif Patte Shah premises, leading to the death of six people. On Thursday, in the Kalkaji area, a motorcyclist tragically died after being crushed under a fallen tree, and two children died after a DDA wall collapsed. Even earlier, several incidents have occurred due to waterlogging, resulting in the loss of lives.
“Despite all of the BJP government’s claims of desilting, Delhi was completely waterlogged. The Rekha Gupta government will have to actually work; without working, merely making tall claims will not do any good for the people of Delhi,” concluded Saurabh Bharadwaj.
