The anger of Delhi’s women is now spilling onto the streets. Months after the BJP promised ₹2500 to every woman in Delhi, not a single rupee has reached them — and their patience has snapped. On Saturday, led by AAP Women’s Wing President Sarika Chaudhary, a large number of women marched to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to demand what is rightfully theirs.
But, instead of receiving justice, they were met with police detention on the orders of the BJP government. As they raised fierce slogans against CM Rekha Gupta and the BJP, the betrayal Delhi women felt was loud and clear.
The Aam Aadmi Party said on its ‘X’ handle, “Can women in Delhi no longer even ask for their rights? Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, today when the women of Delhi came to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to ask you about their ₹2500, your Delhi Police responded with brutality. If you never intended to fulfil your promise, why did you make it in the first place? You will not be able to silence the voices of Delhi’s women through the might of your police.”

Meanwhile, sharing the video of police brutality, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj wrote on ‘X’, “The BJP government is beating the drum of completing 100 days in office with false claims, while outside Nehru Stadium, women who came to demand ₹2500 were met with police brutality.”
On the other hand, AAP Women’s Wing President Sarika Chaudhary said, “The BJP had promised ₹2500 to Delhi women in its government’s first cabinet meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself said during a rally in Dwarka that Delhi’s women would receive ₹2500. Now the BJP is going back on its word. Not a single woman in Delhi has received the ₹2500 yet. BJP has made a fool of the women of Delhi. They misled women and took their votes. Now, women are in distress and are asking—where is their rightful ₹2500?”
Sarika Chaudhary said, “We had come to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to get our ₹2500. CM Rekha Gupta is calling her 100-day tenure a success, but it is a complete lie. How can the BJP’s 100-day tenure be called a success when they haven’t even fulfilled their core promise of ₹2500?”
She added, “There is chaos in Delhi due to the water crisis. All women are deeply troubled over water. There is not a single drop of drinking water in households.”
Sarika Chaudhary said, “During the elections, BJP had promised free gas cylinders on Holi and Diwali. But till now, not a single woman has received a free cylinder. On the contrary, the BJP-led central government has increased the price of each cylinder by ₹50. In many areas of Delhi, there is no electricity for the entire day. Even in VVIP areas, there are power cuts of three to four hours.”
She concluded by stating, “Since the BJP came to power, education in Delhi has become expensive. Private schools have hiked their fees. In 100 days, the BJP government has completely failed to meet the expectations of the public. Rekha Gupta’s government is not at all the right government for Delhiites.”
