Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Spokesperson Reena Gupta has pointed out that Prime Minister Modi is exerting undue pressure on the judiciary to ensure Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal remains behind bars. The AAP Spokesperson highlighted reports that a judge’s brother, involved in staying CM Arvind Kejriwal’s bail, is a special lawyer for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), suggesting a conflict of interest. She asserted that bail granted in a PMLA case signifies innocence, and the sudden activation of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after 14 months of inactivity, aimed at keeping CM Arvind Kejriwal jailed without evidence.
Senior AAP Leader and Spokesperson Reena Gupta said in a press conference at the party headquarters on Sunday that the whole country has been hearing stories of the so-called liquor scam for the last two years. The investigation has been going on for two years. During this period lakhs of pages of papers were filed in the court, 50,000 pages long documents had been submitted, and testimony of 554 witnesses was taken, but despite all this, the investigating agencies do not have any evidence against Arvind Kejriwal.
The AAP Spokesperson continued, “Some people were made to record false statements by luring them with bail. At the same time, some witnesses were beaten up so much that blood started coming out of their ears and only then their testimony was recorded. A witness was threatened that if you do not give false testimony, we will see how your daughter will go to school. The wife of a witness tried to commit suicide. All these witnesses were either pressurized or false statements were taken from them by luring them with bail. At the same time, the documents that prove Arvind Kejriwal’s innocence were not placed before the court by calling them ‘unrelied documents’.”
She further added that these ‘Manohar Kahaniyan’ (Concocted Stories) have been going on for the last 2 years. They are trying their best to ensure that Arvind Kejriwal does not come out of jail in any way. Because if BJP is afraid of anyone in the entire country, it is only Arvind Kejriwal. BJP knows that it cannot defeat AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. Therefore, they want to keep him behind the jail by hatching some conspiracy or the other.
“While granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal, the trial court of ED had clearly said that there is no money trail against CM Arvind Kejriwal. The ED is working with a bias against him. Getting bail in a PMLA case means that the person is innocent. Under PMLA, a judge grants bail only when they are convinced that the person is completely innocent. The trial court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal. But before the order was uploaded, the ED went to the High Court to get a stay on it. It is clear from this that BJP’s premier investigating agencies like ED-CBI are working with bias today,” she added.
Reena Gupta mentioned that the CBI had called CM Arvind Kejriwal for questioning 14 months ago i.e. on 16 April 2023. CM Arvind Kejriwal went for questioning and answered whatever questions were asked of him. After this, the country’s premier investigative agency CBI slept for 14 months. During this time it did not make any inquiry. But when PM Modi understood that Arvind Kejriwal’s bail was about to be approved, then the CBI was activated. CBI was told to make any case and arrest Arvind Kejriwal as soon as possible. Fourteen months ago, the CBI, which had called Arvind Kejriwal as a witness, now arrested him as an accused. Now gradually the whole country has come to know that this whole liquor scam is fake. They neither have any money trail nor any evidence against Arvind Kejriwal, but still, they are being kept in jail.
The AAP Spokesperson shared that the CBI has arrested Arvind Kejriwal in violation of the legal process. For the last few days, there have been reports that PM Modi is pressurizing the judiciary of the country. Till now, people believed that even if they do not get justice from the police or ED, CBI, the judiciary of the country will definitely do justice to them. But PM Modi has stooped to such a level that now it is being learnt that the brother of a judge of the High Court bench who had stayed the bail order of the trial court is the special lawyer of the ED. If there is even a little truth in this, then it is a very unfortunate thing. Every person believes that the judiciary will do justice to him. But it seems that efforts are being made to pressure the judiciary through some means to keep Arvind Kejriwal inside the jail.
“The people of Delhi have elected Delhi’s popular CM Arvind Kejriwal thrice. PM Modi put him in jail in a false case. If Arvind Kejriwal was out, he would have made many more new plans for Delhi. But you (BJP) conspired and put him in jail. You are trying to stop the work of the Delhi government. You are putting pressure on other ministers. No matter how much PM Modi tries, not even a single worker of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP is going to bow down. We will continue to raise our voices against crime and corruption. One day or the other, BJP’s political career will end at the hands of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP. No matter how much you conspire, we have full faith in God’s justice. Arvind Kejriwal will definitely come out and keep working for the people of Delhi,” Reena Gupta concluded.
