AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal addressed a series of public gatherings in South West Delhi on Monday, delivering an impassioned account of his government’s transformative achievements over the past decade. Speaking at Jansabhas in Matiala, Palam, and Bijwasan, Arvind Kejriwal highlighted how AAP’s flagship initiatives—ranging from 24-hour free electricity and improved government schools to Mohalla Clinics and free bus rides for women—have brought measurable economic and social benefits to millions of Delhi residents.
Arvind Kejriwal also took aim at the BJP-led opposition, exposing them for prioritizing the interests of a select few billionaires over the welfare of ordinary citizens. Citing specific examples, he revealed that BJP-ruled states continue to grapple with prolonged power cuts and exorbitant electricity bills, while Delhi enjoys uninterrupted electricity at the lowest costs nationwide. He warned of severe repercussions if BJP came to power in Delhi, such as the end of free electricity, water subsidies, and critical public services like Mohalla Clinics. “Every family in Delhi saves ₹30,000 annually because of the AAP government’s initiatives. Imagine the financial burden if BJP undoes these programs,” he said.
Amid resounding chants of “Phir Layenge Kejriwal,” the AAP Convenor unveiled his vision for Delhi’s future, including clean drinking water for every household, upgraded sewer systems, and employment opportunities for youth. Arvind Kejriwal further reinforced his government’s commitment to social justice, promising enhanced benefits for women, elders, students, and tenants. He urged voters to choose AAP’s “Jhaadu” symbol, equating it to a path toward prosperity and dignity for all.
AAP candidates Sumesh Shokeen, Joginder Solanki and Surendra Bhardwaj were present at the Jansabhas in their constituencies Matiala, Palam and Bijwasan respectively.
Power cuts are almost non-existent; Delhi has the cheapest electricity in the country: Arvind Kejriwal
Beginning by expressing his gratitude, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I am very grateful to you. Over the past ten years, the people of Delhi—all of you—have given us a lot of love, affection, and immense trust. Ten years ago, you entrusted me with the responsibility of Delhi. Since then, we have been working tirelessly, day and night, for Delhi. We’ve tried our best and provided many facilities for you all.” Talking about Delhi’s electricity achievements, he said, “Today, Delhi is the only city in the entire country where electricity is available 24 hours a day. Power cuts are almost non-existent. Delhi has the cheapest electricity in the country. While in other states people get electricity bills running into thousands of rupees, in Delhi, 73% of households get electricity for free. Their electricity bills are zero. And for those who do have bills, they are very low.”
BJP governs 20 states, but not even one of them has 24-hour electricity: Arvind Kejriwal
Criticizing the BJP’s performance in other states, Arvind Kejriwal added, “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governs 20 states, but not even one of them has 24-hour electricity. You can call your relatives and friends in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, or even Gujarat—where they’ve had a government for 30 years—and still, they haven’t been able to provide 24-hour electricity.”
If you press the wrong button, as soon as you reach home, you’ll find the electricity gone: Arvind Kejriwal
Warning the public about the potential consequences of voting for the BJP, he said, “If you press the wrong button, Delhi will again face power cuts of 6–8 hours. If you press the lotus button (BJP’s symbol), as soon as you reach home, you’ll find the electricity gone. But if you press the right button, the electricity will continue 24 hours a day. People of UP pressed the wrong button and are suffering because of it.”
If you press the wrong button, you’ll get ₹4,000 electricity bills, and Delhi will no longer be livable for you: Arvind Kejriwal
Explaining the affordability of electricity in Delhi, he stated, “Today, in Delhi, you get 24-hour electricity, and 200 units are free. Even if you consume 400 units in Delhi, the bill comes to ₹800. In BJP-ruled states, if you use 400 units, the bill is ₹4,000-5,000. If you press the wrong button, you’ll get ₹4,000 electricity bills, and Delhi will no longer be livable for you. But if you press the broom button (AAP’s symbol), you’ll get free electricity and 24-hour supply.”
AAP revolutionised schools in Delhi, if wrong step can hamper your child’s future: Arvind Kejriwal
Highlighting the transformation of government schools in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Government schools in Delhi, which were in terrible condition earlier, have now become excellent. Children from poor families are now becoming engineers and doctors. The results of our efforts have exceeded my expectations. Children from poor families, like rickshaw drivers’ kids, no longer grow up to become rickshaw drivers. Instead, they are becoming doctors and engineers. Look after your children, make them study. We’ll ensure they enter college and later get employment too.” Taking a dig at BJP-ruled states, he remarked, “In BJP’s 20 states, schools have been thrown into ruins. If you press the wrong button, you’ll see your children’s schools getting worse day by day.”
BJP wants to shut Mohalla Clinics in Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal
Talking about healthcare initiatives in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal said, “We’ve set up Mohalla Clinics across Delhi, where people receive free medical treatment, free tests, and free medicines. People used to spend a significant amount on medicines and illnesses every month, but now they are saving that money.” Criticizing BJP’s manifesto, he added, “BJP leaders are so shameless. They released a manifesto in which they stated that if their government comes to power, they will shut down Mohalla Clinics. Tell me, why? Mohalla Clinics treat the common man. Openly and shamelessly, they are saying they will shut down Mohalla Clinics. So, if you press the wrong button, all Mohalla Clinics will be shut down.”
Free buses helping women break barriers, but BJP wants to shut them too: Arvind Kejriwal
Reflecting on the initiatives for women, Arvind Kejriwal explained, “We’ve made bus travel free for women in Delhi. This has made life much easier for women. Women can now travel long distances for work, and our daughters can attend college without any difficulty.” Sharing a real-life example, he said, “I know several girls whose education had stopped earlier due to financial issues, but now they can pursue their dreams. If you press the wrong button, BJP will stop free buses.”
AAP will waive inflated water bills: Arvind Kejriwal
Addressing water bill concerns, he assured the public, “We made water free for you. Until a year ago, your water bills were zero. But they falsely implicated me in a case and sent me to jail. When I returned, I found that they had conspired with the LG (Lieutenant Governor) to start sending water bills amounting to thousands and lakhs of rupees.” He added confidently, “Don’t worry about paying those bills. Kejriwal is here. After we win the election, I will waive off your water bills.”
First initiative after winning will be implementation of Mahila Samman Yojana: Arvind Kejriwal
Introducing his guarantees, he announced, “After winning the elections, our biggest initiative will be the Mahila Samman Yojana. We will deposit ₹2,100 in women’s accounts every month.” Countering BJP’s criticism of this initiative, he remarked, “BJP says I’m instilling bad habits into women by doing so. But in reality, they are gaining financial independence.” Arvind Kejriwal humorously recounted a conversation with a woman, who said she’d spend ₹2,000 on buying two suits and the remaining ₹100 on Gol Gappas, adding, “I asked her how she would go? She said, “By the bus, it’s already free!”
Sanjeevani for elders; free bus travel & 50% on metro for students; free electricity-water benefit for tenants: Arvind Kejriwal
He added, “As for our elders, I will ensure free treatment for all of you, whether in government or private hospitals. We will introduce the Sanjeevani Yojana to provide healthcare for our elders. Whether you’re school or college students, just like women enjoy free bus travel, students will also have free bus travel. Additionally, we will provide a 50% concession on metro fares for students. We will also introduce a scheme for tenants. Until now, tenants have not benefited from the free electricity and water provisions we provide. We will implement a scheme so that tenants also start receiving these benefits.
We will replace all old sewer lines on a war footing: Arvind Kejriwal
He further noted that there were sewer issues in many areas. “I’ve learned that several sewer lines in Delhi have become outdated. We will replace all old sewer lines within 18 months on a war footing so that people don’t face these problems anymore. We will also provide funds to RWAs to hire security guards. Another issue is that the poor haven’t been able to get ration cards for years. After winning the elections, we’ll ensure that all eligible people receive ration cards so they can access their entitlements.”
In the next five years, we’ll ensure every home in Delhi receives clean water round the clock: Arvind Kejriwal
Making another announcement for the residents, he stated, “Fifteen days ago, I inaugurated a project in Pandav Nagar, a colony in Rajinder Nagar constituency, to provide clean tap water 24/7. You can drink directly from the tap because of its quality. The pilot project was successful. Now, in the next five years, we’ll ensure every home in Delhi receives clean water round the clock. Like we eradicated inverters and generators, we will eradicate ROs, motor pumps and water tanks.”
My top priority will be to arrange employment for our youth: Arvind Kejriwal
Talking about unemployment, Arvind Kejriwal said with emotion, “It pains me to see our youth struggle for employment. It feels like my own children are struggling. Once our government is formed, my top priority will be to arrange employment opportunities for them.”
I am a Baniya’s son—I’ll manage the funds and complete all the work: Arvind Kejriwal
Responding to skepticism about funding, he assured, “Many people ask where the money will come from to fulfill these promises. Trust me, just as I delivered on free electricity and water when people doubted me in 2014, I will fulfill all the promises I am making now. I am a Baniya’s son—I’ll manage the funds and complete all the work.”
AAP will help families save ₹30,000 each month: Arvind Kejriwal
Emphasizing the financial impact of free public services, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “Press the right button. We’ve improved schools so much that the education of one child saves a family about ₹5,000 a month. For two children, that’s ₹10,000 saved. Add ₹5,000 saved from electricity bills, ₹5,000 from free healthcare, ₹2,500 from free buses, and ₹2,000 from water bills—add the Mahila Samman Rashi for two women in the family on top of this. You will save ₹30,000 each month.”
BJP will end free electricity, free water, government schools, Mohalla Clinics, and free bus travel for women: Arvind Kejriwal
Criticizing BJP’s approach, he warned, “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already announced that if they come to power, they will end free electricity, free water, government schools, Mohalla Clinics, and free bus travel for women.” Arvind Kejriwal added, “Every family will face an additional burden of about ₹30,000 per year if the BJP comes to power. Where will you bring ₹30,000 from? The common people are already struggling, and ₹30,000 is often more than a family’s total monthly income.”
Jhaadu brings along Mata Lakshmi, AAP will bring prosperity: Arvind Kejriwal
Arvind Kejriwal further urged, “Our symbol, Jhaadu (the broom), is very sacred. The broom is associated with Mata Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Similarly, if you press the Jhaadu Button on the EVM, you get prosperity, you get free electricity, water, healthcare, education, and free bus travel for women, saving you ₹30,000 annually.”
BJP gives your tax money to its billionaire friends: Arvind Kejriwal
Challenging BJP’s stance on public welfare, Arvind Kejriwal questioned, “Why do these BJP people want to stop free electricity? Why do they want to stop free water? Why do they want to shut down all the schools? Have you ever thought about why they want to stop all these facilities?” Answering his own question, he explained, “BJP wants to take away all your benefits. When you pay taxes—whether it’s on milk, food items, or books—the government’s money comes from you. The AAP government spends this public money on you—on free buses, schools, hospitals, and metro lines.”
He asserted that BJP’s priorities lie elsewhere: “What does the BJP do with your tax money? They give it to their 400–500 billionaire friends as loans and then forgive those loans in 4–5 years.”
BJP forgave loans worth ₹46,000 crore for their friend; when I make bus travel free for women, I spend only ₹400 crore: Arvind Kejriwal
Arvind Kejriwal contrasted this with his government’s expenditures, saying, “Just three days ago, there was news that one of their billionaire friends took a loan of ₹47,000 crore, and ₹46,000 crore of that was forgiven. When I make bus travel free for women, I spend only ₹400 crore. For that, they hurl so much abuse at me.”
He added, “The Aam Aadmi Party is your party—the party of the middle class and the poor. The BJP, on the other hand, is the party of the billionaires and the rich. They waived off ₹5,000 crore, as much as Delhi’s healthcare schemes, for another friend of theirs. In total they’ve waived off loans worth 10 lakh crores. But in the name of savings, they stopped the senior citizen subsidy in railways. They will take away Delhi’s money too and give it to their friends.”
BJP has planned to demolish all the Jhuggis in Delhi within a year if they come to power: Arvind Kejriwal
Speaking directly to slum dwellers, he warned, “Do not mistakenly vote for BJP. They have already planned to demolish all the Jhuggis in Delhi within a year if they come to power. The land on which your slums are built is worth billions of rupees. They want to hand it over to builders and their billionaire friends. If you press the lotus button, they will throw you out on the streets. As long as I am here, I will fight for you. Until you get a permanent house, I will protect your Jhuggi.”
BJP tried to send poisoned water into Delhi, but we caught it and stopped it from entering: Arvind Kejriwal
Raising a shocking issue, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Recently, the BJP’s Haryana government mixed poison in the water sent to Delhi. They tried to send poisoned water into Delhi, but we caught it and stopped it from entering. As long as I am here, I will not let any harm come to your water. These kind of tactics happen in world wars. Delhi & Haryana are adjoining states, what kind of politics is this?.” Criticizing BJP’s election tactics, he stated, “These days, they are distributing money to buy votes. If they come to give you money, take it. Don’t say no. But when it comes to voting, vote for the broom.”
AAP is forming the government, you must elect an AAP MLA: Arvind Kejriwal
Reflecting on the previous election results, Arvind Kejriwal shared, “Last time, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP won only eight. Look at the state of those areas where BJP MLAs were elected, like Vishwas Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, and Laxmi Nagar. The BJP MLAs didn’t work. For five years, they fought with me and hurled abuses at me.” He urged voters to elect MLAs from AAP this time, saying, “Everyone knows that the Aam Aadmi Party is forming the government in Delhi again. Even the BJP admits this. It’s possible that we may win a few more seats this time. But if the AAP is forming the government, you must elect an AAP MLA.” Ending with a strong warning, he said, “Do not make the mistake of voting for BJP, or you will regret it for five years.”
BJP deceiving Jat community, gives reservation to Rajasthan’s Jats but not Delhi’s: Arvind Kejriwal
In Bijwasan, he said, “The OBC community in Delhi consists of 54 castes, but the central government’s list only includes 50 of these castes. The Jat community in Delhi receives no reservation from the central government. While the Jat community from Rajasthan is eligible for reservations, this is not the case for the Jat community in Delhi. If you want to admit your child to Delhi University, the Jat community from Rajasthan can get admission, but the Jat community from Delhi faces exclusion from reservation. Similarly, if you’re from the Jat community in Delhi and seek employment, people from Rajasthan can secure jobs, but not those from Delhi.”
He added, “Until today, the BJP has deceived us in these matters. Just a few days ago, members of the Jat community came to me. I promised to fight for their rights. BJP may say that I fight a lot, but I will keep fighting for my people, no matter the challenges.”
