In the Delhi Assembly elections, the Delhi unit of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal has extended its support to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). On Friday, the organization’s Delhi State President Bihari Lal Jalandhari, met with AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and formally handed over a letter of support. He also urged Uttarakhand migrants settled in Delhi to vote for the AAP in the interest of Uttarakhand.
In a press conference, Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated that lakhs of people from Uttarakhand reside in Delhi, and the party that sacrificed the most and fought at the forefront for the creation of Uttarakhand—the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal—has made a crucial decision regarding the Delhi elections. He added, “Many great personalities who played a key role in Uttarakhand’s formation are present here today.”
Sanjay Singh further stated, “The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal has decided that in the Delhi elections, they will support neither the BJP nor the Congress but the AAP. Among us today are Delhi Pradesh President Dr. Bihari Lal Jalandhari; in charge of Delhi-NCR Pratap Singh Sahi; S.P. Gaur, the patron; and Supreme Court advocate D.D. Joshi.
He stated that all are present here and have unanimously decided to extend their full support to the AAP in this major electoral campaign. Sanjay Singh added, “ On behalf of Arvind Kejriwal and the entire AAP, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to them.”
He further emphasised, “With their support, the Uttarakhand community living in Delhi will strongly back the AAP. Our minister, Barinder Kumar Goyal, has been in discussions with them for several days, and today, this has finally materialized. He is also the Uttarakhand in-charge, as well as the Mining Minister of Punjab, and it is through his efforts that this has been made possible.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Bihari Lal Jalandhari stated, “We believe that the people of Uttarakhand, who have now migrated and settled in Delhi, have endured immense struggles. Even after 24 years of Uttarakhand’s formation, the progress that should have taken place has not been achieved.”
He highlighted that rather than reducing migration, the rate has only increased since the formation of the state. He added, “Instead of settling in the mountains, people from Uttarakhand have migrated elsewhere. Therefore, those from Uttarakhand who are settled in Delhi must, at the very least, extend their full support to the AAP in Delhi, as it aligns with the interests of Uttarakhand.”
Dr. Bihari Lal Jalandhari further stated, “We have chosen to support the AAP in Delhi because we seek political participation—so that we can find solutions to the security, needs, and issues of our community and address them through an appropriate political platform.”
He further extended his regards to all Uttarakhand residents in Delhi and added,“Your vote will ensure representation for our community, and your voice will be heard at the highest levels. Through this, a clear path for your concerns will be established.”
Uttarakhand in-charge Barinder Kumar Goyal expressed confidence that the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal’s support for the AAP would significantly strengthen the party. He added that this endorsement would further accelerate the growing wave in favor of Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR in-charge Pratap Singh Shahi criticized the state of Uttarakhand, holding the BJP and Congress responsible for its decline. He highlighted the severe issue of migration, stating that the state lacks a livable environment. “In the past 24 years, both BJP and Congress have done nothing for Uttarakhand,” he said.
Appealing to the people of Uttarakhand, he urged them to vote in overwhelming numbers to ensure a decisive victory for Arvind Kejriwal.
