The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of newborn babies in a fire at a medical college in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, describing the incident as a case of gross negligence. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has labeled it ‘negligent murder’ and has called for compensation of ₹1 crore to be provided to the affected families.
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, while addressing the media, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, where 10 children have lost their lives so far. According to reports, around 37 children have suffered severe burns and are battling for their lives.
He said, “It has been learned that the fire extinguishers installed inside the hospital stopped working in 2020 and had expired. Despite this, those devices were left there. So you can imagine the extent of negligence. You can also understand how the health and lives of people, especially children, are being put at risk in Uttar Pradesh.”
“People are constantly thrown into the fire of hatred over every matter, and efforts are made to divide them on every issue. But this incident shows the extent to which the facilities related to your life are being mocked and wasted,” Sanjay Singh asserted.
Sanjay Singh urged the Uttar Pradesh government to abandon its indifference, accept its negligence, and support the grieving families. “These children could have lived full lives, contributing to their families, the country, and society, but today their families are left devastated and helpless,” he emphasized.
He added, “The families of these children should be given a compensation of at least one crore rupees. Yogi Adityanath, who often makes grand statements on various issues, should stand with these families in this hour of grief and disaster. He must ensure a thorough investigation to determine who is responsible for this tragedy and hold those accountable for the negligence that caused it. Strict action must be taken against the culprits, as this is a clear case of negligent murder of children.”
Sanjay Singh reiterated his demand for compensation, support, and empathy for the affected families. “The Yogi government should take immediate action to provide relief and ensure a thorough investigation into this entire matter,” he stated.
He added, “If the investigation is conducted under the monitoring of the High Court, there might be a chance for a fair and impartial inquiry. Otherwise, as we have seen in previous cases, such as the paper leaks and during the Corona period, investigations conducted by the Yogi government have often been mere formalities, producing no tangible results.”
Concluding his remarks, he said, “It is time for all of us to reflect on what the BJP government is doing to address critical issues like unemployment, education, health, and the welfare of farmers.”
