As the first rain sinked BJP’s four-engine government claim, Delhi has choked under waterlogged roads. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the BJP’s so-called “four-engine government” after Delhi’s first rain of the season left major roads—Minto Road, ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Airport, and Old Rajendra Nagar—submerged in several feet of water.
As traffic ground to a halt and citizens waded through chaos, AAP’s top brass including Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj, senior leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi Assembly LoP Atishi, and National Spokesperson Jasmine Shah took to social media with videos from across the city, calling out the BJP’s total failure to prepare the capital for monsoon.
Sharing photos and videos of inundated roads, the AAP described the BJP-run administration as a “Vipda” government, charging it with turning Delhi’s streets into open drains. “Drains are now flowing over the roads in BJP’s disaster regime,” the party said in a post, accompanied by visuals showing flooded streets and chaos after Thursday night’s rainfall. “The rain has submerged streets and alleys, and several innocent lives have been lost. The BJP’s ‘Vipda’ Government has spared no effort in destroying Delhi.”
The AAP particularly highlighted the irony of severe waterlogging right outside the Public Works Department (PWD) office, overseen by BJP minister Parvesh Verma. Sharing a video of the submerged road in front of the PWD office, the party said, “If this is the situation before the monsoon has even started, what will happen when heavy rains arrive? When there was time, the Disaster Government did nothing. Now that Delhi is drowning, the ministers are busy posing for photographs.”
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed deep anguish on ‘X’, noting that four people, including a mother and her three children, died in the first spell of rain. “This is the truth of Delhi’s four-engine government. After heavy rain and a dust storm in Delhi-NCR, four people lost their lives. Even flight operations were disrupted,” he wrote.
Senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia lashed out at the BJP on X, saying, “Look at the condition of Delhi under BJP rule. The triple-engine government and all its parts spend the entire day making noise against Arvind Kejriwal instead of working for the people — and this is the result.”
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh echoed the outrage, stating, “The BJP is a guarantee of destruction. I keep saying all BJP’s engines are junk. Just look at the triple-engine government in Delhi — the very first rain has flooded the roads. BJP has created a record of ruining Delhi in the shortest possible time.”
Delhi Assembly LoP, Atishi, posted a video showing scenes from Dhaula Kuan and areas near Delhi Airport submerged in water after the rain. “Are these the expectations that Delhi’s people had from the BJP’s four-engine government?” she questioned.
Senior AAP leader and National Spokesperson Jasmine Shah reposted Sanjay Singh’s video and said, “Delhi streets have flooded in the very first rainfall! In the past 3 months, day to day governance in Delhi has nosedived — daily power cuts, water/sewer issues, shutting down of mohalla clinics and cluster buses and now this. BJP has pushed the national capital to ‘andhkaar’.”
Public Struggles Across Delhi as Major Roads Submerged
Key areas such as Minto Road, ITO, Karol Bagh Metro Station, and Old Rajendra Nagar faced severe waterlogging. Roads were overflowing, causing immense difficulties for commuters. In some areas, the water was so deep that even large vehicles were partially submerged. Many residents were unable to leave their homes due to the flooding.
AAP Takes Potshots At BJP Minister for Strolling Along Drain Water After Failing to Prevent Flooding
After the rain stopped, BJP’s PWD Minister Parvesh Verma was seen strolling along the areas with severe waterlogging in Delhi under his own government. Sharing a video of him on X, the Aam Aadmi Party, wrote, “The minister is now taking a morning stroll alongside the very drain water that flowed from the BJP’s disaster government.”
The AAP said that just a brief spell of rain on Thursday night was enough to submerge large parts of Delhi. Drain water spilled out onto the roads. “When there was time to act, the minister did nothing. Now that Delhi is drowning, he has come out for photo-ops,” the party added.
With citizens reeling from urban paralysis and a string of tragic deaths, AAP has held the BJP squarely responsible for the complete breakdown of civic management in the capital. “This is not just mismanagement — this is criminal negligence. Delhi deserves better,” the party concluded.
