The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hit out at the BJP after the Supreme Court’s scathing remark that Delhi is paralysed by just two hours of rainfall. Reacting to the Apex Court’s remarks, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said the observation has exposed the tall claims of the so-called “four-engine” BJP government that crumbles every time the city drowns.
AAP Delhi State Unit Chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, speaking to the media on Monday, said, “If the country’s highest court is saying that two hours of rain leaves Delhi paralyzed, then this is a very serious indictment of Delhi’s so-called four-engine BJP government. This is the same government whose Chief Minister boasted that all planning and management had been done, and that there would be no waterlogging in Delhi this time.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj added that contracts worth crores were handed out in the name of desilting. “The Aam Aadmi Party has repeatedly asked: if desilting was actually done, then why is Delhi still drowning after every shower? Why is the government refusing to conduct the third-party audit of desilting that the High Court had ordered? What is it hiding? This clearly exposes collusion between the government and contractors. The government must answer.”
Meanwhile, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha said, “In just six months of BJP rule, Delhi’s people are deeply agitated. Today even the Chief Justice of India has remarked that two hours of rain bring Delhi to a standstill. This is an extremely grave observation. Delhi, the national capital, welcomes people from across the country. The BJP’s four-engine government should hang its head in shame that even the Supreme Court has been forced to make such a remark.”
