Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has slammed the BJP for its politics of division, calling them out for orchestrating a calculated campaign to demolish homes, harass children, and strip livelihoods from hardworking families of Purvanchal in Delhi. He highlighted the BJP’s hateful mindset which has taken an alarming turn, with fresh orders targeting the Purvanchal community in Delhi under the guise of administrative measures. With a stern warning, Sanjay Singh has vowed to confront this “hateful mindset” on the streets if necessary, exposing the hypocrisy and double standards at the heart of the BJP’s agenda.Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh, stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to display its hateful mindset towards people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and specifically the Purvanchal region. After sparking controversy in Parliament, the BJP has now devised a new scheme to ruin the lives of Purvanchalis in Delhi. They are planning to harass their children, demolish their homes and shops, and run bulldozers over their livelihoods. “I want to warn the BJP—do not resort to such disgraceful acts, or we will take to the streets for a direct confrontation. The consequences will be disastrous. Stop insulting the people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar by calling them ‘Bangladeshis.’ If you continue these actions—targeting their children, demolishing their homes, and bulldozing their lives—you will face severe repercussions,” said Sanjay Singh.Explaining his concerns further, he said, “The BJP, through officials under the LG, has issued orders specifically designed to humiliate children and families from Purvanchal. These directives have been pushed through the MCD to ruin homes of people from UP and Bihar. The orders blatantly target Purvanchalis under the guise of preventative measures, saying, ‘Education Department to take appropriate preventive measures to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrants while giving admission in Municipal schools. It is also requested that proper identification and verification drive may also be undertaken to identify the illegal Bangladeshi migrant children in school.’”The order further states, “All zones to take appropriate actions to remove encroachment made by illegal Bangladeshi migrants.” The third point of the order states, “The Public Health Department is requested to take all precautionary preventive measures while doing birth registration and issuing birth certificates and shall ensure that no illegal Bangladeshi migrants be issued Birth Certificates.”“The BJP is using the excuse of an ‘encroachment drive’ to displace shopkeepers and street vendors from UP and Bihar who earn their livelihoods honestly. They are targeting residents of unauthorised colonies and jhuggis, most of whom are from these regions. Even schoolchildren from Purvanchal are not spared, as they are being subjected to humiliation through such discriminatory measures,” he added.Sanjay Singh pointed out that this assault on Purvanchalis is part of a larger agenda. “The BJP’s national president, JP Nadda, openly declared that Purvanchalis are ‘Bangladeshis’ and vowed to strike their votes off the electoral rolls. In Parliament, they proudly called the people of UP and Bihar ‘Bangladeshis’ and ‘Rohingyas.’ These orders targeting children and families are an extension of that mindset.”Criticising the BJP’s hypocrisy, the AAP MP said, “Who are these Bangladeshis? Where are they? If the BJP was serious about taking action against Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, what have they been doing for the past ten years? Here is a 2022 tweet from BJP Union Minister Hardeep Puri. He stated that Rohingya refugees would be shifted to EWS flats in the Bakkarwala area of Delhi and provided with basic amenities, UNHCR IDs, and round-the-clock Delhi Police protection. This was their ‘landmark decision.’”“If the BJP truly wanted to act against illegal migrants, why haven’t they taken action in Bakkarwala, where their government settled Rohingyas? Why are they now targeting Purvanchalis with these new orders? The BJP has settled Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, but instead of addressing that, they are harassing hardworking and honest people from UP, Bihar, and Purvanchal who contribute to Delhi’s growth,” Sanjay Singh asserted.“This targeted harassment of Purvanchalis will not be tolerated. I want to warn BJP members to come to their senses and mend their ways,” said Sanjay Singh. “If any action is taken against Purvanchalis, the consequences will be grave, and the BJP alone will be responsible. This will lead to massive unrest on the streets of Delhi, and the BJP will bear the blame for whatever happens. Stop these hateful efforts immediately.”He raised serious concerns about the misuse of power. “Everyone knows who controls the officials, who dances to the BJP’s tune. Transfers, postings, and services are all under their control. Despite this, we are always ready to fight back, even on the streets,” he said.Highlighting the BJP’s actions, he continued, “Most of the shopkeepers and street vendors earning an honest livelihood in Delhi are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. These hardworking people set up shops on streets to make ends meet, but the BJP is targeting them under the guise of encroachment drives. The residents of jhuggis and unauthorised colonies, most of whom are from UP, Bihar, and Purvanchal, are being threatened with displacement. These people work tirelessly to support their families and even send money back to their relatives in their home states. Yet, the BJP has drawn up plans to bulldoze their homes and livelihoods, and they always seem to implement such plans during winters.”Calling out BJP’s hypocrisy, the AAP MP remarked, “Union Minister Hardeep Puri and Home Minister Amit Shah know exactly where the illegal migrants are. They settled them in Bakkarwala, in the EWS colonies. If the BJP genuinely wanted to take action against illegal migrants, they should start there. Bangladeshis and Rohingyas have been settled in Bakkarwala with full knowledge of the BJP. The same BJP that now claims to take action has had the power since 2022 but hasn’t deported these migrants. Instead, they gave them 24-hour Delhi Police protection, calling it a ‘landmark decision.’”“The BJP has launched a systematic campaign to displace Purvanchalis under the guise of targeting illegal migrants,” Sanjay Singh added. “Their national president has openly declared in Parliament that they will cut the votes of Purvanchalis. The real purpose behind this targeting is to ensure that the benefits of Arvind Kejriwal’s pro-people schemes, like the Rs 2100 that will be provided to all women, do not reach the people of Purvanchal. They want to disenfranchise them, demolish their homes, and take away their Aadhaar cards so they cannot avail themselves of these schemes.”Recounting past instances, Sanjay Singh said, “The BJP’s hatred for Purvanchalis isn’t new. They’ve insulted them on public platforms. One of their MPs hurled abuses at Purvanchalis on stage, even slapping a BJP worker from the community. This mindset of contempt and violence against Purvanchalis has always been part of their politics.”Sanjay Singh concluded with a resolute warning: “The BJP’s agenda of targeting Purvanchalis will not succeed. We will fight against these injustices at every level. Whether it’s on the streets or through other means, we are ready for this battle. The BJP must immediately stop this disgraceful targeting, or they will face severe consequences.”
