The Aam Aadmi Party has hit back at the LG and the BJP for ordering another fake inquiry against former Delhi PWD Minister Satyendar Jain. AAP’s chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said that the LG has ordered this inquiry at the behest of the BJP to stop the good work of CM Arvind Kejriwal. Central government’s company, BEL, was given the contract as per the procedure to install 1.40 lakh CCTVs for the safety of Delhiites. When the company started delaying the installation of cameras, Satyendar Jain issued a show cause notice to it and warned of a fine of Rs 16 crore.
After this, the company installed all the cameras within the stipulated time. Now after 6 years, the LG is saying that BEL has given a bribe of Rs 7 crore to Satyendar Jain. It is laughable that a central company is giving bribe and PM Modi is not able to stop corruption in his own government. The AAP is waiting that if BEL has given bribe, then the Centre and LG will order investigation against it too.
AAP’s chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said in a press conference at the party headquarters on Tuesday that the Aam Aadmi Party works on public issues, and this is the biggest problem of the BJP. When the BJP goes to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, its leaders are repeatedly asked that when Arvind Kejriwal’s government is providing such good education and facilities in government schools of Delhi, then why is the BJP not able to provide such facilities to children in its states.
“In Haryana, they are asked that when the Aam Aadmi Party government can provide 24 hours free electricity in Delhi, then why does the BJP not provide 24 hours free electricity in Haryana. The BJP leaders are asked everywhere that why women do not get free bus travel in our states like in Delhi. The BJP cannot tell the public that the AAP government spends public money on the public, but the BJP usurps the public money. In such a situation, they have no way to stop the Kejriwal government. That is why they continuously file false cases against us. They put our leaders in jail under fake cases and want to stop the work of Delhi in every possible way,” she stated.
Priyanka Kakkar further said, “Now, the LG of the BJP has given permission for investigation against Satyendar Jain on a very ridiculous allegation. He is saying that Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) of the Central Government, gave bribe to Satyendar Jain, the then minister in the Delhi Government. This allegation is ridiculous, because a company of the Central Government is giving bribe and PM Modi is not able to stop this corruption in his own government. Now we are waiting for the Central Government to also approve enquiry against BEL if it really has given bribe.”
The LG’s job is to reduce crime in the capital, but it is not hidden from anyone that he has completely failed in this. Therefore, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal planned to install CCTVs all over Delhi to protect Delhiites and catch criminals. Satyendar Jain, who was the PWD Minister at that time, held a meeting with all stakeholders including RWA, trade union, police and identified the spots across Delhi where CCTVs should be installed, she asserted.
Priyanka Kakkar continued, “After the entire process, this proposal was passed by the Delhi Assembly and sent for the LG’s approval. However, in 2018, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain had to sit on a strike at the LG residence to get approval on the CCTV bill, because the LG had sat on the CCTV file with him.”
She further stated that the LG has always stopped the work of the Kejriwal government. After various efforts, when finally, the approval was given to install CCTV, a tender was issued for its contract as per the process. In that tender process, the company that made the lowest bid was the Central Government’s Navratna PSU BEL, due to which Modi government’s company BEL got this tender. BEL got the tender to install 1,40,000 CCTV cameras in Delhi, but it was working at a very slow pace. For this, Satyendar Jain sent several notices to BEL, officials were also summoned several times. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed strongly objection to BEL’s attitude.
“After this, Satyendar Jain issued a show cause notice to BEL and asked BEL to explain why a fine of Rs 16 crore should not be imposed on it? Since this project was already delayed a lot due to the bill being stopped by the LG. Therefore, it could not be delayed any longer. After this notice, BEL came into action and completed all its work on time. Due to the completion of the work on time, no fine was imposed on them,” she stated.
Priyanka Kakkar said that now, 6 years after the installation of CCTV and 6 months before the Delhi Assembly elections, the LG is saying that BEL has paid a bribe of Rs 7 crore to Satyendar Jain. Have the companies of the central government become so helpless that they could not go to PM Modi, she questioned.
“Also, the central government should also answer whether any action was taken against BEL or not. LG sahab wants to keep our leaders in jail by conducting unnecessary investigations. If he is so fond of investigations and he is a true patriot, then he should write a letter to Modi ji today itself and investigate the Rs 30,000 crore spent on the Ayodhya infrastructure project, which has started breaking and flowing in a few months. He will definitely find corruption there,” concluded Priyanka Kakkar.
