In a bold declaration, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has vowed to eradicate drugs from Punjab while accelerating the state’s development at “rocket speed.” Launching a mass movement from April 1, the AAP government will deploy MLAs, ministers, and even the chief minister to villages, raising awareness about drug abuse. In a significant security measure, anti-drone systems will be procured, and 5,000 new personnel will be recruited to collaborate with the Border Security Force (BSF) in stopping narcotics infiltration from Pakistan.
The AAP Supremo also sent a strong message to those responsible for Punjab’s drug crisis, warning that no leader—no matter how influential—will be spared. The announcement came during a public dialogue in Ludhiana, where he inaugurated new facilities at the Civil Hospital alongside CM Bhagwant Mann. During this, Rajya Sabha MP and AAP candidate from Ludhiana-West Sanjeev Arora and other dignitaries were present.
Addressing the public gathering in Ludhiana, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the remarkable development of the city’s Civil Hospital, which has been upgraded to such a high standard that people will now prefer it over private hospitals. “This hospital was not always like this. Those who visited it a year ago would know what kind of condition the Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP left it in,” he stated.
The AAP Supremo pointed out that in 30 years, they (Congress, Akali, & BJP) did not improve it but left behind 30,000 rats. “The most difficult task was to remove those rats. The toilets smelled so bad that no one could enter them. The sewer lines were clogged, the hospital was filled with filth, and water leaked from the ceilings. Instead of getting treated, patients would end up catching more diseases. Today, under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann and through the efforts of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, this Civil Hospital has become world-class,” he stated.
Arvind Kejriwal further announced that all government hospitals in Punjab would be renovated soon, adding that Mohalla Clinics have been set up across the state, with more in progress. “A healthcare revolution is coming to Punjab. The last 1.5 to 2 years were spent planning, and now it’s time to implement. The biggest problem in Punjab today is drug addiction. Everyone knows which government started this menace. Punjab was never a state of drugs. Our children never consumed drugs,” said the AAP Chief.
“The entire Punjab knows which party’s ministers were involved in drug trafficking. These people looted everything—cable networks, sand mining, and even flooded every household with drugs. Punjab was once known for its Bhangra, sports, and industry. These people destroyed an entire generation. They will never be happy; God will never forgive them,” he asserted.
Arvind Kejriwal criticized previous governments for making false promises regarding the eradication of drugs. “One party came to power by falsely swearing on Sri Gutks Sahib, promising to eliminate drugs in four weeks. The people of Punjab believed them and voted for them. That person, after becoming Chief Minister, did nothing for five years and didn’t even step out of his house while drugs continued to be sold,” he said.
The AAP Head asserted that now, under the AAP government, a real war against drugs has begun, and the people of Punjab can see it. In the last 20 days, major actions have been taken. People once feared drug lords, but today, their houses are being demolished by bulldozers. When people watch this on TV, they are in tears, shocked that this is actually happening. Drugs are rampant in Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, and other states, but no government dared to take strict action against drug mafias. Only the Punjab government under AAP has had the courage to take them head-on.
Arvind Kejriwal revealed that several major drug traffickers have been arrested, and drugs worth crores of rupees have been seized. “70% of drugs in Punjab come from Pakistan, which uses drones to drop drug packets near the border. But now, Pakistan is struggling to find people to pick up these drugs, as they have all fled in fear. The real masterminds behind Punjab’s drug problem—no matter how big they are—will not be spared,” he affirmed.
Announcing new measures to curb drug smuggling, Arvind Kejriwal stated that the Punjab government is procuring anti-drone technology. “Once installed along the border, Punjab Police will be able to shoot down any drone entering Indian territory with drugs. 5,000 new police recruits will be stationed alongside the Border Security Force (BSF) at the Punjab-Pakistan border to ensure that no one picks up these smuggled drugs,” he emphasized.
“This war against drugs will become a people’s movement, and every citizen of Punjab must take an oath that they will not allow drugs in their state. A soldier fights a war, and in this war against drugs, the people of Punjab will be our soldiers. On April 1, a mass movement against drugs will be launched, and when Punjab’s three crore citizens stand together, these drug traffickers will have no choice but to flee the state,” declared the AAP Chief.
He called upon AAP karyakartas to take this movement forward. “From April 1, every AAP karyakarta will go door-to-door in every village to raise awareness. All AAP MLAs, ministers, CM Bhagwant Mann, and I myself will visit every village. We will all pledge to eliminate drugs from Punjab. At the same time, we must also take care of those who are already addicted. They need treatment and love,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
The AAP National Convenor declared that every village will soon have a sports ground so that our youth stay engaged in positive activities. “We have already started this in Tarn Taran, where 87 villages now have volleyball courts, and children are enthusiastically playing. The same will be done across Punjab, where each village will have sports facilities tailored to local interests. Additionally, gyms will be set up in every village to encourage fitness and prevent drug addiction,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal praised Punjab Police for their efforts and urged citizens to support them. “The war against drugs cannot be won without public participation. If anyone has information about drug sales, they can call 9779100200. Their identity will remain confidential. We will also conduct a census to identify drug users, ensuring they receive proper treatment while keeping their details private,” he assured.
The AAP Supremo also addressed rising attempts to disturb Punjab’s peace. “As our war on drugs intensifies, anti-national elements are trying to create unrest by planting fake grenades. I warn them: This is not a BJP, Congress, or Akali Dal government. This is an AAP government—stay alert. We will not spare anyone. The terrorist who threw a grenade at Amritsar’s temple was shot in an encounter on Monday. The person who attacked a YouTuber in Jalandhar was also shot today.”
“Under the BJP, Congress, and Akali rule, gangsters flourished. But now, they are desperate to leave Punjab because they know their days are numbered. We will ensure Punjab is free from gangsters,” he asserted.
Arvind Kejriwal also announced a crackdown on corruption. “A war against corruption has begun. Some tehsildars were caught red-handed taking bribes and had the audacity to go on strike, thinking we would plead with them like previous governments. Our minister refused to meet them, and CM Bhagwant Mann suspended 17 of them. I warn all corrupt officials—change your ways, or you will be in jail. Corruption will not be tolerated,” he declared.
He outlined reforms to eliminate corruption in land mutation processes. “In three to four months, corruption in the registry department will be completely eradicated. The AAP government is creating a system where corruption will become impossible. Citizens will no longer have to visit government offices for services like ration cards, electricity and water connections, caste certificates, and birth/death certificates. Instead, they will just have to make a phone call, and government officials will complete the work at their doorstep. We will lock up all public offices,” revealed the AAP Chief.
Arvind Kejriwal said that some people ask him why the Punjab government has gone into full action mode over the past 20 to 25 days. “I want to tell them that this is just a trailer—the real film is yet to come. In the coming days, the Punjab government will work at rocket speed. Over the past 1-1.5 years, all the planning has been completed, and now, major projects will be executed. Every broken road in every village will be repaired within the next two years.”
“Punjab has 153 small towns and 13 major cities. Within the next two years, all 166 cities in Punjab will see improvements in water supply, sewer systems, sanitation, street lighting, and road repairs. For those who do not have Ayushman Cards, Sehat Cards will be issued, ensuring free medical treatment for everyone. Libraries are being established in every village,” he declared.
Responding to questions about Punjab’s finances, Arvind Kejriwal dismissed concerns. “People ask where all this money is coming from. I tell them—don’t worry. Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP looted Punjab’s treasury for years. But now, an honest government is in place, and there is no shortage of funds. Work will be done because Punjab finally has a government that works for the people,” he stated.
The AAP Chief urged everyone to campaign for AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora in the upcoming Ludhiana West by-election. “Our former MLA Gurpreet Gogi left us, but Sanjeev Arora has already done significant work for Ludhiana even before becoming an MLA. Imagine how much he can achieve once elected. We must work hard and reach every household,” he concluded.
*Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Appeals to the Public to Support the Government’s War Against Drugs
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann reaffirmed that only Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP prioritize education and healthcare in their manifesto, unlike any other political party. He emphasized that Punjab is the land of martyrs, and it is the collective responsibility of the people to fulfill their dreams. Despite conducting three to four rallies in a single day, Arvind Kejriwal never feels exhausted because of the overwhelming love and support of the people.
Highlighting the government’s decisive action against drugs, the Punjab CM stated that the ongoing war against narcotics is the result of 2 years of rigorous planning. He clarified that drug users are treated as patients who require rehabilitation, whereas drug dealers and traffickers are the real criminals. The government has launched a massive crackdown, dismantling drug networks across Punjab. He assured that in the coming days, even more severe action will be taken against those involved in this illicit trade. Rehabilitation centers will be used to help drug addicts recover and reintegrate into society.
CM Bhagwant Mann further stated that drug peddlers will face strict legal action, and his government is committed to making Punjab drug-free. He revealed that certain police officials had long-standing ties with drug traffickers and remained stationed at the same police stations for years. His administration first severed these corrupt connections before intensifying the fight against drugs. He pointed out that people despise the lavish properties of drug lords, as they are built from the proceeds of crime. As a result, the government has begun demolishing such illegally acquired assets.
Citing an incident, the Punjab CM narrated how a female sarpanch openly declared that she would continue selling drugs. Upon seeing the video, he personally intervened and assured action within two hours. True to his word, a bulldozer was deployed to demolish the drug trafficker’s property. Following this, villagers expressed their gratitude at the Gurudwara Sahib. He reassured the people of Punjab that even the most influential figures involved in drug trafficking will not be spared.
Appealing to the people of Punjab, CM Bhagwant Mann urged everyone to unite in this war against drugs and support the government’s efforts. He emphasized that collective cooperation is crucial in eradicating the drug menace from the state.
