The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has pointed out that the BJP’s Delhi government is systematically dismantling public welfare schemes under the false pretext of corruption. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said the BJP’s singular agenda is to shut down every pro-people initiative launched by the Arvind Kejriwal government—first by branding them corrupt, then quietly scrapping them.
In a media interaction, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said,“The BJP has just one objective — to shut down every welfare programme initiated by the AAP government. And for that, it uses a single excuse: cry corruption, then cancel the scheme.”
He cited the example of 250 Mohalla Clinics shut down by the BJP under the pretext of corruption. “They said there was a scam — but who was the accused? No one knows. Now they’re using the same excuse to question the free pink tickets for women in DTC buses. But how can there even be a scam in a ticket that costs the woman nothing?”
Explaining the mechanism, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “In DTC buses, women don’t pay a rupee for the pink ticket. Private bus operators are paid per kilometre, regardless of whether the bus is full or empty. So where is the scope for corruption? A scam would happen if poor women were forced to present Delhi residence proof to get a pink ticket. Poor migrant women from Bihar, UP or Rajasthan often do not have such documents. If the BJP imposes this rule, they will lose access to the free bus service. Women coming from Noida or Faridabad for treatment at AIIMS or work at Central Secretariat will be forced to pay. This is BJP’s petty-mindedness — their only goal is to snatch benefits away from the poor.”
“Six months have passed, and the BJP government in Delhi has done no real work. All they’ve done is try to cut, dilute or derail the AAP government’s policies,” he added.

On the BJP’s allegations of corruption in the ‘Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Vikas Yojana’, Saurabh Bharadwaj pointed out that two days ago, BJP’s Environment Minister said all vehicles scrapped in 2023 would be investigated. “At the time, the Transport Minister was Kailash Gahlot — who is now in the BJP. I challenge the BJP to launch an inquiry against him,” Bharadwaj said.
He noted that the BJP is routinely using baseless inquiries to block public services. “They used the excuse of fake medicines to stop medicine supply in hospitals. They alleged irregularities in diagnostics to shut down lab tests. This is their tactic — call a scheme corrupt and order a probe to shut it down.”

Saurabh Bharadwaj also took aim at the BJP’s habit of rebranding and re-inaugurating AAP government’s infrastructure. Referring to the recent inauguration of an Automatic Testing Station, he quipped, “It feels like all the work is being done for Nehru ji above and Kejriwal ji below.” He criticised Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and the LG for inaugurating the Sadbhavana Park in Daryaganj just 10–15 days ago, despite construction still being incomplete.
“In Chirag Delhi, the dispensary we inaugurated in 2017 has simply been repainted yellow and renamed ‘Arogya Mandir’. The original plaque with my name and Satyendar Jain’s name is still there. Only the front wall has changed. Why waste public money on duplicate inaugurations? Why not save on these unnecessary expenses?” he asked.
