In a fiery denunciation, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken potshots at the BJP for conspiring to dismantle the statue of Rani Lakshmibai near the RSS headquarters in Delhi. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha leader Sanjay Singh declared that BJP’s legacy of “insulting patriots” persists, likening it to their ancestors’ betrayal of freedom fighters.
The senior AAP leader vowed that the AAP would lead a massive campaign across Delhi to prevent the removal of the revered warrior’s statue.
On Wednesday, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, in a press conference at the party headquarters, stated that the BJP has not changed its character. “Due to this character, the BJP and its ancestors repeatedly insult the bravehearts who sacrifice their life for the country,” he said.
The senior AAP leader continued, “BJP members insult the freedom fighters of 1857 and repeatedly display the same behavior their ancestors showed during the freedom movement. In that period, the BJP’s ancestors supported the British, spied on freedom fighters, and worked against them. Today, the BJP is set to repeat the same actions in the nation’s capital, Delhi.”
Sanjay Singh said that a statue of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi is installed in front of the RSS headquarters. “The RSS and BJP cannot tolerate the presence of a statue of Rani Lakshmibai, who sacrificed her life for the country. BJP members are conspiring to remove the statue of Lakshmibai from near the RSS headquarters,” he mentioned.
“I want to warn the BJP that insulting patriots is an act of treason and betrayal of the country. The whole country is aware of the BJP’s history of betrayal. The RSS did not hoist the Indian tricolor at its headquarters for 53 years and fought a 12-year court battle against those who hoisted the national flag. These people do not consider the tricolor their flag,” affirmed the AAP MP.
Sanjay Singh further remarked, “People from all over the country used to come to pay homage to the statues of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj inside Parliament. However, the BJP-led central government and PM Modi insulted these great leaders by removing their statues from Parliament.”
“Now, they are planning to remove the statue of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, the 1857 warrior, in Delhi. We will raise this issue throughout the Haryana elections as well, emphasizing that insulting patriots is an act of treason, and the BJP is about to commit this treason openly in Delhi,” he added.
Sanjay Singh shared, “A campaign will be launched in Delhi to expose the BJP and RSS. We will not allow the statue of Lakshmibai to be removed. They betrayed our freedom fighters and the country. After independence, they further betrayed the country by not hoisting the tricolor at the RSS headquarters for 53 years. Then, they removed the statues of our great leaders from Parliament, and now they are planning to remove the statue of Rani Lakshmibai in Delhi. Will the BJP tell the people of this country whose statues we should install? Should we honor those traitors who betrayed the country?”
“If the statue of Rani Lakshmibai is removed from in front of the RSS headquarters, we will expose the BJP throughout Delhi and take this issue to the people in Haryana. This act by the BJP is an unforgivable crime and an act of treason,” asserted Sanjay Singh.
