The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has tore into Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’ latest campaign to distribute sindoor in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name across households, calling it a new low in political desperation. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh pointed out that the BJP is insulting Indian women’s dignity for votes, saying, “PM Modi has now launched a bizarre ‘One Nation-One Husband’ scheme, where BJP workers will go door to door with sindoor bearing his name.”
The AAP Rajya Sabha MP warned the ruling party to stop this “cheap stunt” and respect the sanctity of sindoor, which traditionally symbolizes a woman’s bond with her husband—not the Prime Minister.
Senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia took to ‘X’and stated: “Sindoor in Modi ji’s name? The BJP is now turning women’s faith into electoral intoxication. They are trying to decorate their wedding procession to power by selling sindoor. Wrapping women’s devotion in the saree of votes and putting it up for sale — this is what the BJP is doing. The country doesn’t choose a groom. It chooses a government.”
In a video statement on X, Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated, “In Indian culture, women apply sindoor in their hair parting to pray for their husband’s long life. They pray day and night for his well-being, progress, and success. The sindoor on a woman’s forehead represents her husband’s honour, dignity, and pride.”
Sanjay Singh said. “But after proposing schemes like New Nation, One Election; One Nation, One Prime Minister (with the PM acting as Defence, Foreign, and all other ministers); and One Nation, One Ration — Prime Minister Modi now seems to be launching a new scheme: One Nation, One Husband.”
Taking aim at the disturbing implications of such actions, Sanjay Singh said, “Under the One Nation, One Husband scheme, the Prime Minister is sending sindoor in his name to households across the country. Are India’s women supposed to accept Modi ji as their husband? Does Modi ji want every woman in the country to consider him her husband? What kind of mentality is this?”
He added, “The Prime Minister already acts as the Defence Minister, the External Affairs Minister, the Chief of Air Staff, Army Chief, Brigadier and Colonel all rolled into one. And now, how far will the BJP go in politicising sindoor? How much will the BJP sell this ‘Operation Sindoor’?”
Sanjay Singh also questioned the misplaced priorities of the Modi government. “The terrorists who desecrated the sindoor of our sisters in Pahalgam haven’t been caught yet. We still have no control over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Under pressure from former US President Donald Trump, PM Modi declared a ceasefire. The Indian Army had the strength to liberate Balochistan from Pakistan, to reclaim PoK, and to eliminate those brutal terrorists — but instead, Modi ji chose to call a ceasefire and begin marketing this ‘Operation Sindoor’.”

He further cautioned the public about BJP’s planned outreach. “Across the country, BJP workers will now go door to door distributing sindoor in the name of Modi ji. But what exactly is this sindoor for? Who is Modi ji to claim this? Has he ever thought about the emotions and beliefs of Indian women? Has he ever understood the importance of these two pinches of sindoor? Prime Minister Modi must end this so-called One Nation, One Husband scheme.”
“The women of this country will apply sindoor in the name of their own husbands,” Sanjay Singh declared. “PM Modi must stop this cheap attempt to insert his name into women’s most sacred traditions.”
