AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal led a mega roadshow affirming, ‘I have not come here to seek votes to get power, but I have come to serve you by leaving the post of Chief Minister in Delhi’, in Haryana’s Rania assembly constituency on Tuesday, rallying behind the party’s candidate Happy Rania.
Greeted by a shower of flowers and enthusiastic chants of “Badlenge Haryana ka hal, ab laayenge Kejriwal,” the AAP Supremo vowed to bring the Delhi model of free electricity, top-tier schools, hospitals, and Mohalla Clinics to Haryana if given the chance to serve. On this occasion, AAP Haryana State President Dr. Sushil Gupta and other senior leaders were present.
Addressing the people during the roadshow in Rania, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today I have come among you to seek votes for your son, your brother Happy (AAP’s candidate). You know that these people (BJP) had put me in jail for 5.5 months. My only fault is that during my tenure as Delhi CM for 10 years, I did a lot of work. I built good government schools for the children of the poor in Delhi.”
The AAP Supremo continued, “Earlier, there used to be power cuts of 7-8 hours in Delhi, but now there is 24×7 electricity supply. I made electricity-free in Delhi and Punjab. I started arranging pilgrimages for the elderly for free. All these works that I do in Delhi and Punjab, no corrupt person can do. For example, we made electricity free in Delhi, which cost Rs 3,000 crores.”
He further added that if I were a thief, I would have pocketed Rs 3,000 crores. What was the need for me to provide this facility to the public? I built excellent government schools for the children of the poor, it cost money. If I were corrupt, I would have embezzled the money.
Arvind Kejriwal said electricity is very expensive in Haryana. Their (BJP) government is in power in 22 states, wherever they have a government, electricity is very expensive. My simple question to you is whether the one who makes electricity free is corrupt or the one who makes it dearer. They put me in jail because I am honest; they want to attack my honesty. They want to say that Kejriwal is corrupt; he spent 5 months in jail.
“When I came out of jail and roamed around Delhi, no one was ready to believe that Kejriwal is dishonest. Even my implacable enemies say that Kejriwal can be anything but cannot be corrupt,” he said.
The AAP chief said in jail, they tried to break me mentally and physically. I am a diabetic patient and have been on insulin for 10 years. They stopped my insulin. I don’t know what they wanted to do with me but by the grace of God, I am alive today; I am back in front of you. “They wanted to break my morale, but they don’t know that I am from Haryana. You can break anyone’s will, but you cannot break the people of Haryana; we are strong,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal said now elections are around the corner, all these parties will come to ask for votes. I have come to ask for your votes not because I want to come to power. I have resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi. I have no lust for power. In today’s times, no one even leaves his job as a peon.
He said after coming out of jail, no one sought his resignation. “I told the people of Delhi that if you feel that Kejriwal has committed corruption, do not vote for me; if you think Kejriwal is honest vote for me. If you give me a certificate of honesty and make me win by voting for me again, only then will I sit on the Chief Minister’s chair, otherwise not,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
The AAP National Convenor said your son from Haryana has made Haryana proud in the whole world. After getting educated in Haryana, your son formed the government in Delhi and Punjab. Now I have come to you to give us a chance to serve Haryana. I will make Haryana’s electricity-free too. These parties are not going to do anything.
Arvind Kejriwal said people ask if the AAP government is going to be formed in Haryana. “I say that no government is being formed in Haryana without us. Whichever government will come to power in Haryana, it will be with the support of the AAP. Win this seat for the AAP, it is my responsibility to get work done from whichever government is formed. Whichever government is formed, we will build great Mohalla clinics for the people. The work that was done in Delhi and Punjab will be done in Haryana too,” he said.
The AAP National Convenor said the sitting MLA from here (Rania ) is also a minister. The people of Rania demand that a subdivision should be made here, as they have to go 30-40 kms away to get their work done. “He (the current Rania MLA) made promises but did not work, but I will do your work. Because this is Kejriwal’s guarantee. The MLA here did not do any work. So do not vote for him. Happy is your own man. So, what is the use of voting for big leaders? He reasoned.
“Ten years ago, the people of Delhi had brought about a revolution. They gave 67 out of 70 seats to the Aam Aadmi Party. After that, no party other than AAP has come to power in Delhi till date. So, this time, AAP candidate Happy Rania has to be made to win with a huge majority by pressing the button on the broom symbol,” stated Arvind Kejriwal.
