Aam Aadmi Party launched a sharp attack on the BJP over the rising number of criminal incidents in states governed by the party on Monday. Senior AAP Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that BJP governments have completely failed to control crime and criminals. He talked about how in states where the BJP is in power, crime is at an all-time high. He mentioned the most recent example of the broad daylight murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, who had Y-category security. Sanjay Singh warned that if the BJP governments do not become alert in time, more serious incidents could occur in the future.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Monday, Sanjay Singh said that wherever BJP rules in the country, crime is rampant. “Incidents of murder, looting, kidnapping, and gang rape are constantly occurring, and cases of extortion and shooting at businessmen are also on the rise. Despite this, BJP governments, from the center to the states, have completely failed to control these crimes.” The latest example is the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique on Vijayadashami in Maharashtra, he mentioned. Siddique was a former minister of the Maharashtra government, and his son is a sitting MLA. He was not an opposition leader but was associated with the ruling NCP Ajit Pawar faction. Despite having Y-category security, he was killed in broad daylight.
Sanjay Singh also mentioned the murder of a gym owner in Delhi, the president of the Karni Sena, and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. “The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, led by the gangster of the same name, is operating nationwide. Bishnoi openly threatens individuals, and orders their murder, but the police are powerless.” Talking of Delhi, where security is under the direct responsibility of Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Modi, he talked about a gym owner who was killed in Greater Kailash. “Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has been linked to this murder as well. The gang has also been named in the murders of Baba Siddique, Sidhu Moosewala, and the president of the Karni Sena. Bishnoi is running his gang from a prison in Gujarat, yet the police and BJP governments have been unable to take any action,” he said.
Sanjay Singh further added that those tweeting in favor of the BJP, who are followed by the Prime Minister on social media, are writing in support of such incidents rather than condemning them. “This indicates that the BJP is fully backing these incidents, proving that they are being protected by the party. The murder of Baba Siddique is no ordinary incident, and I believe that the people of Maharashtra will teach the BJP and Shinde government a lesson in the upcoming elections. It is shocking that someone with Y-category security is being killed, and murders are happening even in the nation’s capital,” he said.
Sanjay Singh emphasized that the said individual is openly operating a gang in the country and has threatened several others. “If the BJP government does not act swiftly, more such major incidents may happen in the coming days. Therefore, if there is any sense of responsibility left in the BJP governments at the center and in the states, they must take immediate and concrete steps to stop such incidents,” he concluded.
