Parents of children in Delhi’s private schools are being forced to plead and protest against arbitrary fee hikes, only to face police barricades and government indifference. On Monday, when they tried to meet Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, they were stopped at the gate—highlighting the BJP-led Delhi government’s shocking apathy towards middle-class families and its silence on the growing nexus between private schools and power.
Sharing a video of the parents on X, AAP Delhi State President, Saurabh Bharadwaj, wrote, “This shows what the BJP government has done to the middle class. The collusion with private school owners is evident.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “The nexus between private school owners and the BJP government in Delhi is clear. That is why private schools are arbitrarily increasing fees, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is not even ready to meet the parents. Parents are distressed, but the government is doing absolutely nothing in their interest. This clearly exposes the alliance between the education mafia and the government.”
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, posted on ‘X’, stating, “Private schools are increasing fees in the middle of the academic year. It is clear that the BJP’s Rekha Gupta government has given a green signal for fee hike to private schools. Otherwise why is no action being taken against such schools?”
Parents are pleading for help on social media. They have received emails from private schools regarding the fee hikes. These emails also mention that all concerned authorities and departments are already aware of the fee increase.
Atishi shared one such email sent to parents on X. She said, “The collusion between the education mafia and the BJP government is clearly visible. That is why no action is being taken against private schools that are arbitrarily increasing fees.”
The Delhi Assembly LoP said, “The BJP’s so called ‘four-engine government’ had claimed that such arbitrary actions by private schools in Delhi would not be tolerated. They had promised to bring an ordinance. But the way this ordinance has been kept hidden from the people of Delhi by the BJP government clearly proves there is collusion between the BJP and these private schools.”
