Following a raid by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj’s residence, senior AAP leader and Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha hit back at the BJP, saying that while agencies are unleashed on AAP leaders, no probe is ordered into the BJP’s own scams in Delhi. He said the arrogance of power has consumed PM Narendra Modi and the BJP, who are misusing the ED as their political wing.
Addressing a press conference, senior AAP leader and Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha stated, “On Monday, after a High Court order, Delhi University is no longer obliged to show the Prime Minister’s degree. Now the entire country is asking — why is the Prime Minister not showing his degree? What objection is there in showing it? Either there is a degree or there isn’t. If there isn’t, then admit it. But when it comes out that the degree of India’s Prime Minister is not being shown, it feels insulting as an Indian.”
“At every corner and every street in the country, people are asking — what is it that the Prime Minister is not showing, or does not want to show, his degree? People are only asking for the degree, it’s not like they are asking for a kidney,” he added.
Pointing to raids on AAP leaders, Sanjeev Jha said, “When this question was being raised across the country, to distract attention, on Tuesday ED raided the house of AAP’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj. This raid shows that the central government is conducting fake investigations in fake cases. The case under which the investigation is happening pertains to a time when Saurabh Bharadwaj was not even a minister.”
He continued, “It is being claimed that he committed irregularities while being a minister, but Saurabh himself made a video explaining that the building in question was constructed in 2018–19, whereas he became Health Minister in 2023. So how could he have committed irregularities as a minister when he wasn’t even a minister? An agency like the ED is not even doing basic homework. Before preparing a case report, facts should be verified. This is a fake investigation.”
Hitting out at the agency, Sanjeev Jha said, “The Prime Minister has turned the ED into a political weapon, and because of this, the agency is facing embarrassment again and again. ED is supposed to be the country’s premier investigating agency, but now it has lost public trust. If you conduct a survey, everyone will say that it has become an agency of political vendetta. The Supreme Court has repeatedly raised questions over the ED.”
“The Supreme Court has said that the ED is working like a ‘crook’ and is being used as a political weapon. In a July 2025 judgment, the Chief Justice said that political battles should be fought directly, why is ED being dragged in? I appeal to the senior officials of ED — you were not given this job to act as a political wing. By forgetting your responsibility and joining political conspiracies, you are raising questions on the very existence of the agency. If a premier agency is used in this way, how will people ever trust its investigations,” he questioned.
Calling out the PM Modi for misusing institutions, Sanjeev Jha said, “The Prime Minister dreams every day of finishing AAP. At night, Arvind Kejriwal and his team appear in his dreams, and the next morning a conspiracy begins. But the Prime Minister is forgetting that this is all decided by the almighty. Arrogance of power is speaking too loudly. Tomorrow it may well be that the very same agency consumes him.”
He asserted, “Do not turn institutions into monsters. Institutions were created for the better functioning of the country, but he is turning them into monsters. AAP is not afraid of ED or CBI. Saurabh Bharadwaj raises questions every day, but BJP has no answers. On Independence Day, corruption took place in the purchase of the Tricolour — it was reported in the media, but no investigation took place.”
“The whole of Delhi faced waterlogging, the High Court ordered a third-party audit, there was corruption worth crores, but no investigation happened. Saurabh asks questions, and they get scared. So what do they do? Send the ED, try to scare him. If that doesn’t work, send him to jail,” he pointed out.
Reiterating that AAP will not be silenced, Sanjeev Jha said, “AAP leaders are not afraid of ED or CBI. Satyendar Jain was kept in jail for three years in a fake investigation, and now CBI is filing a closure report. Nothing is coming out of these agency investigations. Stop this game, otherwise it will cost you dearly. Stop misusing ED and CBI to intimidate AAP. Our leaders have been to jail in fake cases and have returned. Satyendar Jain received a closure report after three years.”
“The more the BJP misuses investigative agencies from the Centre, the stronger AAP workers will ask questions. Prime Minister Modi, keep using ED and CBI, but at least show your degree. We appeal to the BJP and the Prime Minister — stop misusing agencies,” affirmed the AAP MLA.
