During Sunday’s India–Pakistan cricket match in Dubai, Pakistani players made insulting gestures against India — sparking a sharp attack from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on the BJP-led central government. Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj shared two videos of these threatening gestures on social media and questioned the decision of the BJP and Modi government to play cricket with Pakistan. He said while Pakistani players mock India before the world, the Modi government keeps projecting that all is well with Pakistan.
Posting on X, Saurabh Bharadwaj wrote, “In the India-Pakistan match, Pakistani players are mocking India in front of the whole world. They are making gestures as if they are shooting down Indian aircraft.”
Questioning the decision, he said, “Why were Pakistanis given such a world-class platform? Why did we not walk out immediately? Shame on the BJP’s central government. By playing two matches with Pakistan, the Centre has told the entire world that everything is normal with Pakistan. And on the cricket field, Pakistani players behave in this manner?”
Saurabh Bharadwaj added, “The people of this country were against playing cricket with Pakistan. The entire nation wanted that until relations between India and Pakistan improve, India should not play cricket with Pakistan. Going against the wishes of the people, the BJP’s central government decided to play matches with Pakistan. India defeated Pakistan in both matches, but people have not forgotten the Pahalgam terror attack. That is why, even after India’s victory, there were no celebrations this time, no fireworks were lit.”
He further said, “By deciding to play cricket with Pakistan, the BJP’s central government has blackened the country’s face, and history will never forgive the BJP for this. The Modi government has sent a message to the world that the situation is normal. Today, the entire world is laughing at the BJP’s central government and its foreign policy.”
