Citing security concerns around Independence Day, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has postponed Senior AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia’s highly anticipated padyatra to 16th August 2024. The change, announced by Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Wednesday, follows discussions with the Delhi Police, who recommended the shift. The march will now commence on 16th August at 5:00 pm from the Greater Kailash constituency, earlier it was scheduled for the 14th of August.
Providing information on Senior AAP Leader and Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s scheduled padyatra, Senior leader of AAP and Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, as everyone knows, due to the conspiracies of the central government, Manish Sisodia remained in jail for 17 months and after that, Manish Sisodia got bail from the Supreme Court. After Manish Sisodia got bail, the party decided that Manish Sisodia will embark on a padyatra in various areas of Delhi from today i.e. 14th August 2024 and will meet the people of Delhi.
“According to the strategy, today Manish Sisodia’s first padyatra was to start from the Greater Kailash assembly constituency. Due to some reasons, this padyatra is not happening today,” informed the senior AAP leader.
Informing regarding the reason for cancellation of the padyatra, Saurabh Bharadwaj said that when permission was sought from the police department for the padyatra, the police department suggested because it is the atmosphere of 15th August and given the security and vigilance in the country, if this padyatra is postponed for a few days, that is, if it is not started today but after two-four days, then it will be better from the security point of view. This advice from the police also seemed reasonable to us.
The senior AAP leader shared that keeping in mind the suggestion given by the police, Manish Sisodia has now decided that the march to be undertaken by him across Delhi will not start from 14th August but from 16th August, i.e. the day after Independence Day. The time and place will remain the same, i.e. Manish Sisodia’s march will be started from DDA flats Kalkaji at 5:00 pm on 16th August.
“We do not want any kind of problem or trouble to arise on the occasion of Independence Day. That is why, accepting the suggestion of the police, the party has decided that now Manish Sisodia’s padayatra will be started from the Greater Kailash assembly constituency on 16 August 2024,” Saurabh Bharadwaj concluded.
