In a damning indictment of the BJP’s misuse of central agencies, a Delhi court on Monday closed the corruption case against senior AAP leader and former PWD Minister Satyendar JaCentral Bureau of Investigation (CBI) admitted it had found no evidence of wrongdoing—despite four years of exhaustive investigation.
Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly Atishi held it as a proof of BJP’s political vendetta, saying, “Over 200 cases have been filed against AAP leaders since 2015, but none involve corruption. Every time these cases reach court, their baselessness is exposed.” She added, “The BJP has weaponised agencies to tarnish reputations—without evidence, without foundation.”
In a press conference at her Delhi Assembly office, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi has come out strongly against the BJP, stating that the party has, over the past decade, systematically filed false and baseless cases against AAP leaders with the sole purpose of maligning their image. “At every step, the BJP has weaponised agencies to file one false case after another against AAP leaders. No evidence. No foundation. These cases were filed just to throw mud,” Atishi said.
She pointed out that since 2015, more than 200 cases have been filed against AAP leaders. “But whenever investigations take place, whenever these cases go to court, it is repeatedly found that there is not even a single instance of corruption in any case.”
Atishi referred to the latest development in the case against former PWD Minister Satyendar Jain as a prime example. “Today, one such case came to light. A CBI special court was hearing a case where Satyendar Jain was accused of irregularly hiring professionals as PWD Minister, with allegations of wrongful selection, unlawful salary disbursal, and loss to the public exchequer. These were allegations levelled by BJP’s agencies.”
“However, the CBI special court has ruled today that all these allegations were baseless. Not a single piece of evidence of corruption was found. The court has accepted the CBI’s closure report, meaning the case is now over.”
Atishi elaborated on the court’s observations: “The allegations were that professionals were hired improperly, and that the recruitment process was flawed. But today, the court clearly said—after investigation, the CBI concluded that the need to hire professionals was justified. This is not my statement—this is the court’s order.”
Further quoting the court, she said, “As far as the process of recruitment is concerned, it was found that it was done through open advertisement.”
“The court has said that the CBI found no irregularities in the recruitment process. Again, this is not my statement—this is the CBI’s own finding and the verdict of our judiciary.”
She further stated, “The court has clearly ordered that under the Prevention of Corruption (PoC) Act, not even a single piece of evidence of corruption has been found. Therefore, we are closing the investigation into corruption.”
In conclusion, Atishi said, “It is now crystal clear that every single false case filed by the BJP collapses when it reaches court. Why? Because the Aam Aadmi Party has never indulged in corruption—not in the past, not in the present, and never will in the future. The BJP may file as many false cases as they like. We are not afraid of them. And every time a case reaches court, it becomes evident that it was baseless and unfounded.”
Meanwhile, AAP National Media Incharge Anurag Dhanda said the BJP has once again been exposed for fabricating false cases to malign AAP leaders. “The BJP routinely misuses central agencies to target AAP leaders—today’s court order is fresh proof of that. In 2019, the CBI registered a false case against Satyendar Jain, accusing him of irregular recruitment in the PWD and alleging corruption. But the court has now accepted the CBI’s closure report, which clearly states that not a single piece of evidence was found—neither any misuse of power nor any corruption, nor any illegality in the recruitment. Therefore, the report recommended that Satyendar Jain be given a clean chit.”
