The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has pointed towards a well-planned conspiracy behind the deaths of 14 people in Asha Kiran Shelter Home. Senior AAP leader and MLA Durgesh Pathak says that the Lieutenant Governor (LG) had deliberately handed over the responsibility of Asha Kiran Home to corrupt officer Rahul Agarwal.
AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak said in a press conference at the party headquarters that the Delhi government has formed an institution called Asha Kiran Shelter Home to take care of intellectually challenged people. “All such people coming from Delhi are kept in it and taken care of. Two-three days ago, the news came that 14 people died there in the last one month because they were not given proper food, water and treatment. Due to this, those people died. There cannot be a bigger black spot for any society than this. After this incident, the truth that is coming out layer by layer is even more scary. It seems as if this entire system was prepared only to carry out such an incident,” he asserted.
The AAP MLA said that the responsibility of Asha Kiran Shelter Home is with an officer named Rahul Agarwal. He was caught taking bribes by the CBI in 2016 and he was suspended for 5 years. When the CBI tried to go to his house, his wife did not let them enter the house. When the CBI forcibly went inside, it found a lot of jewelry kept on the roof of the house. Due to this corruption, he was suspended for 5 years.
“Whenever an officer is given a new posting, the vigilance department of that government prepares an investigation report about that officer, which contains all the information about how that officer has worked before. What cases are there against him?” the AAP MLA questioned.
Durgesh Pathak said that the right to transfer and post officers in Delhi is with the BJP’s LG. The LG decides which department will be given to which officer. Certainly, before giving the responsibility of this department to Rahul Agarwal, the vigilance department must have given their report to the LG that he has been suspended for 5 years and a CBI inquiry is going on against him. Then the question arises why did the LG give him the responsibility of this department despite knowing everything?
The senior AAP leader said that this is a sensitive department and a person who can take bribe from a lintel maker in Naharpur village while being SDM. Can Rahul Agarwal handle such a big department and take care of it? Any common person can also tell that such a person should not be given such a big department. But then the question arises why did the LG give this responsibility to Rahul Agarwal? Surprisingly, it has been two days since this incident came to light, but Rahul Agarwal is still in his post. No action has been taken against him yet.
He added that Asha Kiran Shelter Home comes under the Social Welfare Department. Earlier its minister was Raaj Kumar Anand. But after his departure, this department does not come under any minister. Currently, it is being run by the secretary of this department. Two days have passed, but LG has not taken any action against him yet.
“LG sir should explain why he gave this department to Rahul Agarwal despite knowing everything. Two days have passed but why has no action been taken so far? He should also make public the report of the vigilance department on Rahul Agarwal,” Durgesh Pathak stated.
