With just a day to go, will Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to Delhi’s women be fulfilled? As the deadline nears, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Atishi, has written to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, reminding her of PM Modi’s so-called “Guarantee”—a promise to deposit ₹2,500 into the accounts of Delhi’s women on Women’s Day. With thousands waiting, the question remains: Will the BJP government deliver, or was this just another empty election jumla?
In the letter, LoP Atishi wrote, “On behalf of the millions of mothers and sisters of Delhi, I am writing this letter to remind you (the Chief Minister) that on Wednesday, January 31, 2025, during a rally in Dwarka, PM Narendra Modi had promised the women of Delhi that as soon as the BJP government was formed, the scheme to provide ₹2,500 per month would be passed in the first cabinet meeting, and the money would start reaching women’s bank accounts by Women’s Day.
The letter further reads, “He (the Prime Minister) had also advised all women to link their mobile numbers with their bank accounts to ensure they receive notifications when the funds are credited.”
“Now, only one day remains until Women’s Day. The women of Delhi have been eagerly awaiting this moment, hoping that the first installment will start reflecting in their accounts from March 8, as promised by the BJP,” stated the LoP in the Delhi Assembly.
Addressing CM Rekha Gupta, Atishi wrote, “Chief Minister, the funds must be transferred to women’s accounts immediately to ensure they receive what is rightfully theirs. Every woman in Delhi is looking up to you, and their hopes must not be shattered. I sincerely hope that tomorrow, the women of Delhi will receive the message on their phones confirming the deposit of ₹2,500 in their accounts.”
AAP Releases ‘Bas Ek Din’ Poster on X
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has released a poster on its official X handle, reminding the BJP of its promise. The poster states that only one day remains until March 8. It questions whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fulfill his guarantee by transferring ₹2,500 into the accounts of Delhi’s mothers and sisters.
The poster features images of PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, Minister Parvesh Verma, and MP Manoj Tiwari, reminding them of their so called “guarantee” of providing ₹2,500 to the women of Delhi.
