It’s moment of joy for AAP, Brahm Singh Tanwar is significant figure in Delhi’s political landscape and three-time MLA from BJP: Arvind Kejriwal

  • October 31, 2024

With Delhi Assembly elections on the horizon, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has landed a significant boost, while the BJP faces a major setback. In a powerful shift, Brahm Singh Tanwar—a prominent leader from South Delhi and three-time MLA—has left the BJP to join the AAP, bringing several supporters along.

At the felicitation ceremony on Thursday, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal formally welcomed Brahm Singh Tanwar and his team by wearing them AAP’s cap and ‘Patka’ (sash), highlighting their influence in Delhi’s rural areas. During this AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak was also present.

Announcing this development, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal expressed his delight, stating, “Today is a day of immense joy for the AAP. Brahm Singh Tanwar is a prominent figure in Delhi politics and one of the key leaders of the city. For the past 50 years, he has served the people of Delhi in various capacities – sometimes from within the government, sometimes outside, but always dedicated to public service.”

The AAP Supremo emphasized Brahm Singh Tanwar’s impactful contributions to the capital, noting, “He has consistently prioritized the development of the regions he represented, having served as an MLA twice from Chhatarpur and once from Mehrauli, making substantial contributions to Delhi’s progress.

“Today, he is leaving the BJP to join the AAP. Although AAP is only ten to twelve years old, the steady influx of good people who are impressed with the AAP government’s works first in Delhi and now in Punjab, is making our AAP family bigger,” he asserted.

Welcoming Tanwar into the fold, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “I warmly welcome Brahm Singh Tanwar and his entire team into the AAP. I am confident that his presence will strengthen our family, infuse new energy, and accelerate our commitment to the development of Delhi. Impressed by AAP’s work, good people will join us and the public will support us. This is the time when in a democracy, the public evaluates its elected representative every five years. Everyone will be evaluated on the basis of their work.”

Commenting on the event, senior AAP leader and MLA Durgesh Pathak remarked, “Today is a day of great joy. A prominent figure from Delhi’s rural areas is joining our AAP family. We welcome Brahm Singh Tanwar, a well-known name in South Delhi and the rural areas of Delhi. His public service work is widely recognized and appreciated. He has served as an MLA three times and as a councilor three times. Today, Brahm Singh Tanwar, along with his entire team, is joining the AAP.”

Brahm Singh Tanwar shared his enthusiasm in aligning with AAP’s vision, saying, “Today, I have fully resolved to sever my ties with the BJP and join the AAP to work under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. It is truly a privilege for me to join AAP through his guidance, as he embodies the commitment to public service and a vision for a better future for Delhi. His commitment to advancing the welfare of all communities and regions, particularly the villages, has motivated me to align myself with him and work hand in hand for the progress of our area and the entire NCR.”

The former BJP leader further expressed his gratitude, “I am grateful to everyone, especially Arvind Kejriwal, for welcoming me and my associates into the party. Many who couldn’t join us today will soon be a part of this movement. Several of my former colleagues and office-bearers from the BJP are also here, ready to work alongside AAP.”

12th floor burning. Firefighters struggling to rea 12th floor burning.
Firefighters struggling to reach it.

Years of tall claims. Not enough preparation.

The BJP government must answer a simple question:

Can your emergency services actually protect the people living there?

Because your “world-class development” means nothing if the rescue system can’t reach the fire.

Punjab has taken a landmark step to protect parent Punjab has taken a landmark step to protect parents from unchecked private school fee hikes.

The Punjab Government has capped annual fee increases at 5% and ordered private schools to refund any excess fees collected beyond the prescribed limit in the last three years.

📌 Schools that increased fees by more than 15% over the last three years will have to return the excess amount to parents.
📌 Any fee hike beyond 5% will require proper justification and regulatory scrutiny.
📌 Schools violating the rules could face strict action, including penalties and cancellation of recognition.

For years, parents have been forced to bear arbitrary fee hikes with little accountability. Punjab’s decision shifts the balance back in favour of families, ensuring that education remains accessible and affordable.

At a time when education costs are rising across the country, Punjab has shown that governments can act decisively to protect parents and students from exploitation.

Education is a right, not a business. And parents should never have to choose between their child’s future and their family’s financial stability.

Students did their job. They studied. They prepared. They showed up.

Why did the system fail them?
