With Delhi Assembly elections approaching, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plunges into divisive politics, misleading the public over Rohingya settlements, asserts the Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP). Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, CM Atishi, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh counter BJP’s claims, highlighting a 2022 tweet by Union Minister Hardeep Puri, urging the BJP to introspect and own up to its actions.
Reacting to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s tweet, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia posted on his ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter): “Hardeep Puri’s tweet is proof that BJP itself hatched the conspiracy to bring and settle Rohingyas in Delhi. These people settled them here by giving them EWS flats, security and all facilities. Spread hatred from the front, and settle Rohingyas from behind – this is the dirty and deceitful politics of BJP. Stop misleading the people of Delhi. Your double tricks will not work now.”
Delhi CM Atishi shared on her ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter): “BJP people were in such a hurry to make false allegations against Arvind Kejriwal that they forgot who brought the Rohingyas to Delhi, who settled them there and where. But the special thing about the truth is that it always comes out. And today the truth has come out in front of the people of Delhi through this tweet by Hardeep Puri ji.”
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh posted: “Read this tweet by Hardeep Puri ji. You will know who brought Rohingyas to Delhi, who settled them and where?”
AAP National General Secretary (Organization) Dr. Sandeep Pathak tweeted, “Read this tweet of Hardeep Puri. You will know who brought Rohingyas to Delhi, who settled them and where.”
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha posted: “After reading this tweet of Union Minister Hardeep Puri, it becomes clear who settled the Rohingyas in Delhi.”
Senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj shared on ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter): “Read this statement of Prime Minister’s favourite Union Minister Hardeep Puri. The Modi government is most concerned about Rohingya infiltrators. Now you must have come to know who brought Rohingyas to Delhi, who settled them and where.”
AAP Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai posted: “Read this tweet by Hardeep Puri ji. You will know who brought Rohingyas to Delhi, who settled them and where.”
AAP Chief Spokesperson (National) Priyanka Kakkar shared on her ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter): “This tweet by Hardeep Puri clearly states that BJP not only helped Rohingyas cross the border but also settled them at various places in Delhi. Union Minister Hardeep Puri is claiming that the BJP government has settled Rohingyas in Delhi.”
It is noteworthy that on August 17, 2022, Union Minister Hardeep Puri himself tweeted, stating that India has always welcomed those seeking refuge in the country. He announced a significant decision to relocate all Rohingya refugees to EWS flats in Delhi’s Bakkarwala area. These refugees would be provided with basic amenities, UNHCR IDs, and round-the-clock security from the Delhi Police.
