A massive fire that broke out just 100 metres from Parliament, at the Brahmaputra Building housing Rajya Sabha MPs, has starkly exposed the BJP government’s shocking negligence in fire safety preparedness. With all fire-fighting equipment inside the building found defunct and fire tenders from three nearby stations—barely five minutes away—taking nearly 40 minutes to reach, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior leader Manish Sisodia, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh have come down heavily on the BJP government for its abject failure to ensure even basic emergency response in the heart of the national capital.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal shared pictures of the fire on X, stating: “In just six months, the BJP has destroyed everything in Delhi.”
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia said on X: “The BJP’s claims of development have been fully exposed in just six months. The BJP came to power making big promises, yet today it cannot even manage Delhi. If the Rajya Sabha MPs’ residence is in such a condition, imagine the safety of ordinary citizens under their rule.”
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha Sanjay Singh visited the Brahmaputra Building to assess the situation firsthand. Speaking to the staff present, he learned that fire tenders arrived long after the fire had started, by which time significant furniture and other items had already burned. Staff members said they had to escape the building to save their lives. All fire-fighting equipment inside the building was found to be non-functional.
Sanjay Singh stated on X: “You may die, but the BJP government will not bother to listen to you. The BJP has destroyed Delhi. A fire broke out at the Brahmaputra Building, just 100 meters from Parliament. The staff quarters were reduced to ashes. All fire-fighting equipment was broken, and fire tenders from three stations just five minutes away took 40 minutes to reach the site. In BJP’s Delhi, inefficiency has reached its peak.”
