In an emotional appeal, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Senior leader Sanjay Singh highlighted the plight of Jaishvi Yadav, a ten-month-old child diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, a life-threatening illness. The staggering cost of the life-saving treatment is approximately 10 crore rupees.
Sanjay Singh urged people to contribute to the fundraising campaign. With personal contributions and heartfelt requests for assistance, Sanjay Singh emphasised the collective responsibility to save Jaishvi’s life and support her family during this critical time.
Introducing a ten-month-old child, Jaishvi Yadav, diagnosed with the most severe form of Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, AAP Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader Sanjay Singh stated, “Jaishvi’s doctors have cautioned that she may not live beyond two years without intervention.” Aam Aadmi Party has championed similar cases in the past and calls for nationwide support to raise the enormous funds needed for her treatment.
Sanjay Singh continued by expressing his frustration with the lack of central government’s support for families facing this immense financial burden. “I even requested the government in Parliament to formulate a plan to address this disease and negotiate with the American pharmaceutical company that produces the required injection,” he said.
This life-saving injection, produced by Novartis, costs around 17 crore rupees, and even with tax exemptions, comes at a cost of 10 crore rupees, a sum unimaginable for ordinary or even middle- to upper-middle-class families. Sanjay Singh underscored the impossibility of raising such a vast amount without significant community and government intervention.
“In such circumstances, a question arises about what can be done for these children. People often ask me what comes out of the campaigns I run for them. Based on my personal experience, I can tell you that with the help of the media, funds have been raised for injections, and lives have been saved.” Sanjay Singh recalled the successful case of Keno Jangra, a young child whose life was saved through similar efforts. He added, “But it’s clear that without generous contributions, it would be impossible to arrange the required funds.”
The AAP MP stated, “Doctors have indicated that she must receive the injection before she turns two; otherwise, saving her life will become difficult or even impossible. Therefore, I earnestly request the people of this country to come forward to save this child’s life.”
He highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting that her father, Prashant Yadav, an airman in the Indian Air Force, is dedicatedly serving the nation. Sanjay Singh emphasised, “Today, it is our responsibility to support his family and ensure the well-being of his daughter.”
He said, “If you can make any contribution, whether it’s 100, 1,000, or any amount within your means, it will help.” So far, approximately 1.85 crore rupees has been collected for this urgent campaign, which is being facilitated through ImpactGuru for Jaishvi Yadav.
