Calling out the worsening law and order in Delhi, senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey said BJP has failed to ensure people’s safety. He emphasised that Delhiites trusted BJP’s so-called ‘four-engine’ government for security, but instead schools face bomb threats, while lootings and murders rise daily. The senior AAP leader added that in harassing AAP leaders, BJP has made its agencies forget law and order, turning Delhi into the crime capital with a rate 8.50% above the national average.
Addressing a press conference at the AAP headquarters on Thursday, senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey stated, “The people of Delhi entrusted the BJP with the most important responsibility of fixing law and order and bridging the growing trust deficit between citizens and the police. Delhiites gave this responsibility to the BJP with the hope that since the investigation, security agencies and police administration are under their control, the BJP would prioritise the safety of lives and property of Delhiites over political vendetta and make efforts to ensure their sense of security.”
Dilip Pandey said, “The sad and unfortunate reality for Delhiites is that the BJP, on whose shoulders rested the responsibility of Delhi’s security, has reduced all investigation and security agencies to the job of harassing AAP leaders. By levelling baseless and absurd allegations against AAP leaders, ministers and MLAs, and conducting raids at their homes, they are being troubled and tortured. As a result, the focus of security agencies has completely shifted away from maintaining Delhi’s law and order. From morning to evening, BJP offices issue instructions to these agencies on whom to file fake chargesheets against and at whose residence to conduct raids for harassment.”
He asserted, “As a result, the BJP continues to disappoint Delhiites. On Wednesday, around 20 schools and colleges received bomb threats. This is not the first time such threats have come. Earlier, on 14-15 July, 9 schools and a college received bomb threats. On 17 July, 50 schools were threatened. On 19 August, 32 schools were threatened. On 21 August, schools again received bomb threats. On 22 August too, 6 schools got similar threats. Now, 20 colleges, including institutions under Delhi University, have received bomb threats. These repeated threats prove one thing — under BJP’s rule, criminals are emboldened.”
Highlighting the fear prevailing in the city, Dilip Pandey said, “The BJP has created such a society in Delhi where children are scared in the morning to go to school, and parents remain anxious until their children return home. If parents go for a walk in the park, they fear blade attacks and snatching. When children step out, elderly parents at home live in fear of being murdered.”
“Today, Delhi is in a terrible state. It feels like a web series on crime is playing out here. Delhiites have seen open gang wars in December, gangsters issuing threats with their audio and video clips going viral. Someone gets stabbed, someone gets beaten to death. What is going on in Delhi? The BJP has turned Delhi into a ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and a garden of goondaism. Criminals are being invited to come, fight and assault — the police will do nothing. Delhiites never expected such a city from the BJP,” he emphasised.
Citing official data, Dilip Pandey said, “The central agency NCRB data shows that compared to any other city or metropolis in the country, Delhi has the highest crime rate per one lakh population. In Delhi, 1,832 criminal cases are being registered per one lakh residents. In terms of national crime average, Delhi is ahead of every other state in the country by 8.50%. While the national average is 258 cases per one lakh population, this is Delhi’s achievement under BJP’s rule.”
Expressing deep frustration, Dilip Pandey stated, “AAP is tired and exhausted of repeatedly requesting the BJP government to fix law and order. We even say — hang all AAP leaders at once if you want. Why is the BJP not allowing investigative agencies to do their real job of maintaining law and order? We even say — put all AAP leaders in jail, but at least make Delhiites feel safe. Then even the common man will give BJP credit for at least one good act. AAP, forgetting political differences, appeals to the BJP to remove the fear about law and order from the minds of Delhiites. Human life is above politics. BJP must care about the lives of people. Politics can always wait.”
