AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj slammed the BJP for falsely claiming credit for reducing the garbage mountain. He said the real work began in November 2022 when AAP took charge of MCD, while the BJP’s mayor took office just a month ago. Despite having no role in the clean-up, BJP leaders—including the LG and CM—are now spinning lies to hijack the achievement.
During a media interaction, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “The BJP’s Mayor in MCD took charge just a month ago. Has the garbage mountain disappeared in just one month that the BJP is now rushing to take credit for it?”
He asserted, “If the amount of garbage has actually reduced, then the credit should go to AAP’s MCD, because it was in November 2022 that AAP came to power in the MCD, and during its tenure until 2025, the height of the garbage mountain has gone down. How can the BJP steal this achievement? How can they lay claim to this success?”
Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “What does the Lieutenant Governor (LG) have to do with any of this? His responsibilities are limited to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Delhi Police. He neither runs the MCD nor the Delhi Government. Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who assumed office just three months ago—has she really reduced the height of the garbage mountain? If yes, then the data should be placed before the public.”
“Let the data show how many inches the garbage mountain has reduced over the past several years, and how much it has reduced in Rekha Gupta’s three-month tenure. If that is indeed true, we ourselves will congratulate her and thank her on behalf of Delhiites. But at least speak the truth. One should not demean the post of Chief Minister by lying at every opportunity,” he concluded.
