As his first steps after freedom, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the father of the education revolution, embarked on an emotional padyatra on Friday evening, reconnecting with the public after 17 months of imprisonment. Freshly released on bail from the Supreme Court, Manish Sisodia launched his march from Greater Kailash, the constituency of Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, determined to hear the voices of the people across every assembly constituency in Delhi.
On the first day of his padyatra, Manish Sisodia arrived at Alaknanda Market in Greater Kailash to a rousing welcome. The moment he stepped into the crowd, the faces of the people lit up, and children’s spirits soared upon meeting their beloved “Uncle Manish.” Manish Sisodia was visibly moved when children handed him a poster that read “Welcome Back Manish Sisodia Sir,” and he tenderly placed his hand on their heads in blessing. Manish Sisodia started his padyatra of Delhi from Greater Kailash assembly constituency at around 7 pm on Friday evening. During this, senior AAP leader and Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP Delhi State Vice President Jarnail Singh, and senior AAP leader Reena Gupta, along with many AAP workers were present. The workers presented him a picture of Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar. After this, Manish Sisodia, along with all the MLAs and workers, set out on a march to meet the people of Delhi.

The people are saying ‘welcome back’. People are telling me that they were praying for my health. This closeness is not usually seen in politics. It is seen only in families. This makes it seem that the whole of Delhi is my family. People are also saying that they are praying for CM Arvind Kejriwal’s health and his early release. All these conspiracies will end soon and Arvind Kejriwal will also come out soon. People are very happy about my release, they are very enthusiastic. People are also saying that the Delhi government is doing good work.”
Manish Sisodia said that I was in jail for 17 months. The whole of Delhi, which is my family, was outside. Today when I have come among my family, people are welcoming and meeting me with great love. Everyone wants to know how I spent so many days in jail. Everyone has prayed for me. Kejriwal ji will also come out soon.
Talking to the people of Delhi in Greater Kailash, Manish Sisodia said that with the release of Sanjay Singh and me from the Supreme Court, we have crossed two stages of this fight. “As soon as Arvind Kejriwal comes out, we will cross a big stage of this fight. Now their jails are not so strong that they can keep all of us there. They tried to scare us a lot, but none of us was afraid of them. They have tried keeping me in jail for 17 months,” he said.
The former deputy chief minister of Delhi said Arvind Kejriwal has taken up the challenge that every child of this country should get good education in government schools and the fees of private schools should be reduced. This work will continue. Hospitals will be better; people will get good treatment. “Electricity bills became zero in Delhi and Punjab, now this will happen in the whole country, no one can stop it. Kejriwal has taken up the fight for truth and change, we will continue with that,” he said.

He said it was a complete conspiracy of these people to not let me and Arvind Kejriwal come out of jail in any way before the Delhi elections. “But it is the power of your love and prayers that brought me back to you. Similarly, the love and blessings of the people will pull Kejriwal out of jail. Now, I am among you, wherever you say, I will go with you,” he said.
At the same time, Manish Sisodia shared on his ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter): “During the padyatra, a sister tied a rakhi to me. It was a very emotional moment for me. I stayed away from these people for 17 months, but their love did not decrease at all. Thank you sister for your love and blessings. The love of sisters like you is my biggest strength.”
