Undeterred by rain, thousands of euphoric Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers assembled outside the Tihar jail on Friday evening to welcome their national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as he walked out after nearly six months of incarceration.
Addressing the AAP supporters, he said they (BJP) wanted to break my morale by putting me in jail, but my courage has increased 100 times and I will fight all these anti-national forces, which are weakening, dividing and stopping the development of the country from within.
Earlier, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, MP Sanjay Singh and Dr Sandeep Pathak; ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj and many other AAP leaders had arrived to receive him at Tihar.
The Chief Minister was welcomed with band music and fireworks and loud slogans of Kejriwal aa gaye (Kejriwal has come) were raised.
Addressing the sea of supporters assembled outside the Tihar jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said I want to thank the Almighty, by whose grace I could come out today. “I want to thank those lakhs and crores of people who prayed for me and sent their blessings; went to temples, mosques, Gurudwaras to pray for me. You all have come here in such large numbers today in so much rain, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart,” he said.
The AAP national convenor said his life is dedicated to the country. “Every moment of my life, every drop of my blood is dedicated to the country. I have struggled a lot in life, I have faced many problems in life. But God supported me at every step in my every trouble because I was truthful, I was right,” he said.
The Delhi Chief Minister said that he has come out of jail with renewed energy. “These people put me in jail. They thought that by putting Kejriwal in jail, Kejriwal’s spirit will break. Today I want to tell you that I have come out of jail, my morale has grown 100 times, my strength has multiplied 100 times. The thick walls of their jail, the bars of their prison cannot weaken Kejriwal’s courage,” he said.
Greeted by cheers and applause, the chief minister appeared resolute and confident, expressing gratitude to his supporters while reaffirming his commitment to continue the fight. Arvind Kejriwal said, “I pray that just like God has shown me the right path till today, God has given me strength, may God lead me to the right path. May I continue to serve the country. I will fight all these anti-national forces, which are weakening, dividing and stopping the development of the country from within. I have fought against them all my life; I will continue to fight them in future as well.”
The mood among AAP supporters was triumphant. Supporters were emotionally charged, and they were standing amidst rain in large numbers carrying banners and party umbrellas. The love from supporters seemed like Delhiites were yearning to see him for ages.
