Amid roaring cheers and unyielding support, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia declared that CM Arvind Kejriwal’s is doing ‘tapasya’ (penance) for the people of Delhi and the nation. As Manish Sisodia’s 8th padyatra swept through Burari, he issued a fierce warning: when the ‘tapasvi’ (ascetic) Arvind Kejriwal emerges from jail, the BJP will feel the full force of his resolve. The rally resounded with chants of ‘Corruption has only one end, Kejriwal-Kejriwal,’ as Delhiites rallied behind their leaders, ready to face the challenges ahead.
The people welcomed Manish Sisodia with great warmth by wrapping a turban on his head, garlanding him with flowers, while dancing to drums and wearing cutouts of CM Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. On this occasion, AAP MLA from Burari Sanjeev Jha, many councilors and senior party leaders were also present.
While directly interacting with the public in Sant Nagar of Burari Assembly constituency, former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that for the months he was in jail, AAP workers kept his spirits up. Everyone encouraged his family. “I sent a message through my wife and lawyers that you should not lose courage, we are standing firm. Due to your love and respect, those 17 months seem as if they did not happen to me. Everything is a thing of the past. When I came out of jail, I was full of enthusiasm. Seeing this, the faces of BJP wilted and their enthusiasm disappeared. BJP folks started saying, ‘they (we) are so full of enthusiasm, as if we have got free from the case, they are smiling so much’. But the one who has not done anything wrong and whose family is with him, he smiles like this.
The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi continued, “I had not done anything wrong, so I did not break down and carried myself with courage. There is some pain in jail. Even in 52 degree temperature, there was only one fan running and I used to sleep on the floor, so there was some pain. But then a voice came from within that I have to do this for the children for whose education I have fought. I am not the first person who is doing this, God knows how many people have done it.”
“When I have not done anything wrong then why should I be afraid and when my comrades are fighting outside then why should I break down. So I was neither afraid nor broke. The BJP folks thought that if they keep me in jail for 17 months then I will come out crying and dejected. But I have come looking into their eyes, today the BJP people do not have the courage to look into my eyes,” he added.
Manish Sisodia said that not only the children of those who voted for AAP study in Delhi schools, but also the children of BJP members. When a BJP leader used to go home after cursing Arvind Kejriwal and me, spreading lies about us and AAP, his child used to ask, ‘Papa, even my government school is fine, then why have you come here lying?’ Their children used to ask that Manish Sisodia is doing good work for their schools, then why are they (BJP) sending him to jail? BJP members used to lower their eyes on these questions.
“When BJP members and their family members used to travel in buses and the women didn’t have to pay for bus fare, their family members also used to say that their brother, husband or son who is in BJP is doing wrong to Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. When the elderly used to go for pilgrimage in Delhi, the parents of BJP members also used to go there, then their parents used to say that Arvind Kejriwal is doing good work, but their sons, who are in BJP, are doing wrong to Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are doing good work for Delhi, they should be supported. My walking free from jail has lowered the eyes of the BJP people,” shared Manish Sisodia.
Manish Sisodia stated that the energy and smile with which he has come out of jail is nothing. Now, the smile and brilliance with which Arvind Kejriwal will come out, BJP people will not be able to face him. Arvind Kejriwal did not go to jail to serve any punishment or on charges of corruption, he has gone to jail due to the conspiracy and deceit of BJP. But he is not serving the sentence in jail, rather he is doing ‘tapasya’ (penance) for the country and Delhi by sitting in jail. When that ‘tapasvi’ (ascetic) comes out, it will be known what is the brilliance of penance. When he comes out, BJP will not be able to dare to stand in front of him.
“BJP people worked very hard to not let us come out before the Delhi elections. But our freedom fighters who fought for independence and then Baba Saheb Ambedkar gave us such a constitution that no matter how much a dictator does dictatorship, in the end the constitution and democracy will prevail,” affirmed the senior AAP leader.
Manish Sisodia said, today I am out only because of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and his constitution. And tomorrow if Arvind Kejriwal is out, he will be out only because of Baba Saheb’s constitution. Therefore, we have to fight to save this constitution and democracy. “The constitution is not a slogan given during elections or just a book. The constitution is the right of every citizen of this country. When a dictator starts doing wrong things, then the constitution protects the people. We have to fight to save this country from dictatorship. I have come out, Arvind Kejriwal is doing penance right now,” he asserted.
Manish Sisodia shared, “I used to sit in jail and watch on TV that our party workers are protesting at various places. I did not suffer much inside, but you have suffered a lot outside. But the AAP has come out of its biggest crisis. We are proud that during this time we did not break or bow down. Various kinds of allegations were made on AAP MLAs, councilors and leaders. We came out of every crisis. The day BJP’s ‘Manohar Kahani’ (conspiracy theories) comes out of the crisis, people will say that even if you lock the AAP people in solitary confinement, they come out without getting any soot on them. In the future, people will cite this test of honesty by AAP as an example. Many congratulations to all of you for becoming a part of this history.”
