A day after a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court exonerated senior AAP leader and former PWD Minister Satyendar Jain in a baseless corruption case, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday intensified its attack on the BJP, calling for legal action against those who conspired to defame him. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said Satyendar Jain has received only “half justice” — full justice would be delivered only when those who levelled false accusations against him are held accountable.
Saurabh Bharadwaj demanded that a case be filed against senior BJP leader and then-Leader of Opposition (LoP) Vijender Gupta, along with the then Lieutenant Governor (LG) and CBI officials who pursued the politically motivated case.
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “First, Vijender Gupta files a false complaint. Then the LG forwards this complaint to the CBI. The complaint had no merit, yet a false case was registered against Satyendar Jain. Despite the lack of evidence, the CBI begins an investigation and continuously harasses Satyendar Jain, his family, and the AAP. Should there not be legal consequences for such harassment? The court has now closed the case, making it clear that Vijender Gupta filed a false complaint solely to defame Satyendar Jain and AAP.”
The AAP Delhi State President further added, “I believe the law must provide for remedy wherever injustice occurs. What injustice has taken place here? A senior BJP leader and the then Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, files a false complaint. The LG, appointed by the BJP, forwards this baseless complaint to the CBI for investigation. Despite the lack of any substance in the complaint, the name of senior AAP leader and then PWD Minister Satyendar Jain is deliberately included.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj continued, “The LG forwards the complaint for investigation and a case is registered against Satyendar Jain. His house is raided by the CBI, his public image is severely damaged. His family and even his children are subjected to harassment. We want to know: is there any provision in law for compensating this social loss? Shouldn’t cases now be filed against Vijender Gupta and the LG? Shouldn’t CBI officers who filed this case without any basis now face legal action?”
Highlighting the CBI’s overreach, Saurabh Bharadwaj remarked, “We believe that CBI could have chosen to file a complaint without naming anyone and then conducted its investigation. But when there is no basis for corruption, how can one directly name Satyendar Jain and initiate a CBI probe? It is now evident that BJP leader Vijender Gupta filed this complaint solely to defame Satyendar Jain. We believe cases must now be filed against the LG, Vijender Gupta, and the concerned CBI officers. If no case is filed against them, then this would be a violation and mockery of the law itself.”
The Aam Aadmi Party reiterated that the entire episode, from complaint to investigation, was politically motivated and weaponised to discredit its leaders. With the court’s decision to close the case, AAP is demanding full accountability and legal redressal for the wrongful prosecution and character assassination of Satyendar Jain.
