The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called on the Lieutenant Governor (LG) to revoke the transfer orders of teachers in Delhi government schools. Senior AAP leader and MLA Dilip Pandey emphasized that these teachers have been instrumental in the success of Delhi’s education model. Despite Education Minister Atishi’s directive to cancel these transfers, over 5,000 teachers were moved at the BJP’s behest. The AAP MLA highlighted that the Education Minister has reiterated her demand in a letter to the Chief Secretary, urging the withdrawal of the transfer orders and action against non-compliant officers. He pointed out that the BJP is disrupting students’ education through these transfers, while highlighting the Kejriwal government’s significant investment and reforms in the education sector. The AAP stands firmly with the teachers against these transfers.
Senior AAP leader and MLA Dilip Pandey said in a press conference at the party headquarters on Thursday that the revolutionary education model of Delhi, famous in the country and the whole world, has been created mainly due to the simultaneous advancement of three parallel strategies.
“First, there is the guidance of CM Arvind Kejriwal and the country’s most popular then Education Minister Manish Sisodia. Second, there is the participation of parents and students through the Management Committee. Third, there are the teachers of these government schools. Before the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, the teachers who were responsible for shaping the future of the country, were reduced to mere education workers due to the old administrative system and politics,” he stated.
He continued, “After our government was formed in Delhi, under the guidance of CM Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government spent 26% of its total budget on education and created a successful and revolutionary education model. This not only made these education workers realize the responsibility of a teacher, but they also played an important role in establishing a successful education model in Delhi.”
Dilip Pandey said that despite the written instructions of Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi, the LG’s office transferred more than 5000 teachers overnight at the behest of the BJP. Education Minister Atishi, taking cognizance of this matter, has once again given three instructions to the Chief Secretary through a letter. She has demanded that the transfer of these teachers should be canceled immediately and strict action should be taken against the officers who passed this order despite her instructions.
“We have also learnt that many teachers are trying to stop the transfer by contacting the officials in a hurry to avoid transfer. Strict action should be taken against the officers involved in such corruption by identifying them. She has also ordered the Chief Secretary to submit the action taken report of these three instructions within 48 hours,” he added.
Dilip Pandey stated, “Today, the intention of the Delhi government and its education minister is clear to the teachers of Delhi. At the same time, despite the instructions to stop their transfer, the intention of the BJP and its LG, who illegally transferred teachers at the behest of the BJP, is in front of them. An education post is not like other government posts where a teacher can create a profitable situation for himself by staying for a long time. On the contrary, by staying at one place for a long time, the teacher gets a chance to build a positive relationship with the children, their parents and other staff. As a result, it becomes easier for the teacher to discharge his responsibilities and he is able to give better results.”
The AAP MLA mentioned that CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Education Minister of Delhi Government Manish Sisodia provided the best training to these teachers by sending them to places like Oxford, Cambridge, Singapore, and IIM. 9 years ago, no parent wanted to enroll their children in these government schools of Delhi. But when Delhi’s education model was implemented with three parallel strategies and revolutionary changes took place, everything changed. The biggest carriers of this change are the teachers of government schools of Delhi.
The AAP MLA shared that by transferring these teachers overnight, the BJP is not only harming the education of children but is also trying to break the morale of teachers who have made the most important contribution in the education revolution of Delhi. We have raised our voice against every injustice of the BJP. The AAP is against the injustice being done to teachers. We are with the teachers in their fight for rights and justice.
“We will continue to raise our voice against the dictatorship and high-handedness of the BJP. We hope that the BJP and LG will not harm the education of children studying in government schools of Delhi. The BJP and LG office will together cancel these transfers and allow the teachers to do their work,” Dilip Pandey concluded.
