The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) marked the occasion of Chhath Puja with great enthusiasm and reverence across Delhi, with senior leaders, ministers, and MLAs gathering at various Ghats to offer Sandhya Arghya alongside devotees. Chhath Puja, celebrated with deep cultural significance, saw AAP leaders engage with the people and join them in prayer for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the community. Under the leadership of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Government has expanded Chhath Ghats to over 1000 today. This initiative ensures that devotees have access to worship spaces within 1-2 kms to their homes, reflecting AAP’s commitment to preserving cultural traditions and making Chhath a festival for all Delhiites.
Arvind Kejriwal attended the Chhath Puja in East Kidwai Nagar, in his constituency New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of this festival in strengthening communal harmony and reaffirming the cultural unity of Delhi’s diverse population.
Senior AAP Leader Manish Sisodia visited multiple Chhath events in his Patparganj constituency, offering his wishes and participating in rituals at Rajendra Park in West Vinod Nagar, Mandawali Talab, Durga Mandir in East Vinod Nagar, Ramleela Ground in Pandav Nagar, and Mayur Vihar-1. At these sites, he celebrated alongside devotees, sharing, “Chhath is not only a tradition but a spiritual journey deeply rooted in India’s culture. The strict, three-day fast taken up mostly by women is unparalleled, as they pray for the well-being and prosperity of their families, communities, and nation. The AAP-led Delhi Government is dedicated to supporting and respecting all devotees, ensuring that they have a peaceful and sacred environment to celebrate Chhath.”
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi joined the celebrations in her constituency Kalkaji. She first visited the Chhath ghat at Balmukund Khand, Giri Nagar, where she joined devotees in offering prayers to Lord Surya. Following this, CM Atishi went to the KTC Camp in Sriniwaspuri, where locals were celebrating Chhath Mahaparv with great enthusiasm. She highlighted that the AAP Government’s efforts have transformed Chhath into a festival celebrated by all residents of Delhi, not just the Purvanchali community.
Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai attended the celebrations at the Chhath Ghat in Babarpur, observing the enthusiasm of devotees. He said, “The devotees were thrilled with the arrangements, offering their blessings to the Delhi Government. May Chhathi Maiya bring health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone.”
Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj visited a Chhath Puja organized at Millennium Park in Greater Kailash, inspecting the arrangements and joining in the celebrations. He highlighted that “each year, under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, the scale and grandeur of Chhath celebrations increases. This year, we have welcomed devotees who were previously denied access by the BJP-controlled DDA at Satpula. We have built a new Chhath Ghat here, ensuring everyone can participate.”
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh attended celebrations in Timarpur along with MLA Dilip Pandey, where they performed rituals, offered Arghya to the Lord Surya, and conveyed their warm wishes for Chhath. MLA Dilip Pandey noted, “the Delhi Government has organized Chhath Puja at 13 locations in Timarpur, and over 1000 locations city-wide, complete with ponds, tents, lights, and sound. It’s heartening to see this massive increase in worship spaces, as very few Chhath Ghats existed in Delhi before the AAP Government took charge. Now, with over 1000 ghats, we show our commitment to honoring and respecting the sentiments and beliefs of all communities in Delhi.”
Cabinet Minister Kailash Gahlot visited the Chhath events at Durga Enclave Colony and Jai Vihar in Najafgarh, conveying his blessings to all devotees. He shared, “The Delhi Government has made outstanding arrangements for Chhath across 1000 ghats. We wish that Chhathi Maiya continues to bless everyone and bring prosperity to all.”
MLA Somnath Bharti participated in the festival at Central Park, Gautam Nagar, in his Malviya Nagar constituency, where he joined devotees in worship and extended his best wishes.
