Immediately after the BJP government took oath in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) called on it to fulfill the promises made to the people during the elections. Senior AAP leader and former Delhi CM, Atishi, reminded the BJP and newly sworn-in CM Rekha Gupta of their election promise of Rs. 2,500 per month for women. She urged the government to approve the scheme in its first cabinet meeting at 7 PM, calling it a direct commitment from PM Modi and BJP leaders. With hours left for the meeting, Atishi said the women of Delhi were watching and expected the BJP to honour its word.
Senior AAP leader and former Delhi CM, Atishi, addressed a press conference, reminding the BJP and newly sworn-in Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of their election promises, particularly the Rs. 2,500 monthly honorarium for women. She stated, “Today, I extend my congratulations to Rekha Gupta and her entire cabinet on their swearing-in. Delhi has got its fourth woman Chief Minister, which is a matter of pride for the women of this city. I hope that, as a woman CM, Rekha Gupta will fulfil the promises made by the BJP to the women of Delhi.”
The former CM recalled the specific commitments made by BJP leaders, including PM Modi, during the election campaign. “During their campaign, PM Modi, all BJP leaders, and Rekha Gupta herself promised the women of Delhi that every woman in the city would receive Rs. 2,500 per month directly in their bank accounts. They said that the moment a BJP government is formed, the very first cabinet meeting will approve this scheme, and by 8th March, every woman will receive her first instalment.”
Atishi also highlighted how PM Modi personally reinforced this promise in his rallies. She said, “The Prime Minister himself assured women that they should link their phones to their bank accounts because, on 8th March, they would receive an SMS notification confirming the deposit of Rs. 2,500.”
With the new government’s first cabinet meeting scheduled for 7 PM, she called upon the BJP to deliver on its word. The senior AAP leader added, “Today, the new government has taken oath. Rekha Gupta has assumed office, and at 7 PM, the Delhi Government’s first cabinet meeting will take place. On behalf of all the women of Delhi, I demand that the BJP government fulfil its promise today itself. The Rs. 2,500 per month scheme for every woman must be passed in this evening’s cabinet meeting. This is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment. This was the assurance given by Delhi’s new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.”
With just a few hours left for the meeting, she reiterated that all eyes were on the government. Atishi stated, “Soon, the BJP government will hold its first cabinet meeting. The women of Delhi are waiting. They expect the government to keep its word, approve this scheme today, and ensure that by 8th March, the promised money reaches their accounts. I sincerely hope that the BJP and Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will honour their word in today’s cabinet meeting.”
