Blaming the BJP MPs for the demolition of slums in Civil Lines and the threat of demolition on slums in Brar Square, senior AAP leader and MLA Durgesh Pathak said on Thursday that the BJP MPs of Delhi are making the poor homeless by getting their houses demolished through the departments under them.
Houses were demolished illegally in Civil Lines and people living here since independence were made homeless. Now the Railways has given a notice to demolish the slums of Brar Square on July 22, but even after a week, BJP MP from New Delhi Bansuri Swaraj has not gone there to meet the people, he said.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA Durgesh Pathak said in a press conference at the party headquarters on Thursday that for the last 10 days, houses of poor people are being demolished in many areas of Delhi. This demolition is being done by the departments that come under the BJP MPs of Delhi. A few days ago, DDA aggressively demolished the houses of thousands of people in the Civil Lines area and DDA officials are still going to that area and threatening people that more houses will be demolished. At the same time, the Railway Department of the Central Government has put up a notice to demolish thousands of slums in Loha Mandi, Budh Nagar, Inderpuri near the railway track in Brar Square before July 22. The Railway Department also comes under the BJP MPs.
Durgesh Pathak said It has been 6 days since the railways issued the notice in Brar Square, but the BJP MP from New Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj, did not even once visit the affected people, nor did she assure them that she will talk to the railway department and no one’s house will be demolished. She is unreachable. If people’s houses are demolished, Bansuri Swaraj will be responsible for it, because the railway department under her is the one giving notices to demolish people’s houses. Similarly, there is no contact with the BJP MP from Chandni Chowk, Praveen Khandelwal. It has been five days since people’s houses were demolished in Chandni Chowk, but he did not even go to meet anyone. No MP is ready to take responsibility for these actions, added the AAP MLA.
Durgesh Pathak said that Aam Aadmi Party believes that this demolition is completely illegal. These people living in Civil Lines have been living here since independence. Hindu families who came from Pakistan are living there. These people have been living there for 70-80 years and today their houses have been demolished. On whose instructions has this action been taken? Has this been done on the instructions of the Lieutenant Governor, on the orders of BJP MPs or did a central government minister give instructions for this? On whose instructions is the railway putting up notices to demolish those houses? Who is behind this? Is this happening on the instructions of Bansuri Swaraj or are the officers doing as they please? This should be investigated, and strict action should be taken against them.
Durgesh Pathak said the Aam Aadmi Party demands that whoever is behind these two cases should be investigated and strict action should be taken. The people of Delhi have elected BJP MPs, so it is their responsibility to stop these actions.
The AAP MLA said we have taken this matter to the court, we hope we will get justice from there too, but this action of BJP is completely wrong, and it is a conspiracy to ruin Delhi.
