Senior AAP leader and outgoing CM Atishi slammed the BJP for failing to name a Chief Minister even 10 days after the election results, calling it proof that PM Modi doesn’t trust any of his 48 MLAs. The outgoing CM called out the BJP for having no leadership, vision, or roadmap for Delhi.
Highlighting BJP’s indecision on Delhi CM appointment, senior AAP leader and outgoing CM, Atishi, stated, “10 days have passed since the Delhi Election results were announced on 8 February. The people of Delhi expected that by 9 February, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would declare its Chief Minister, and by 10 February, the swearing-in ceremony would take place, paving the way for governance to begin immediately. But the people kept waiting—on 9 February, 10 February, 11 February, and so on. Today, even after 10 days, BJP has failed to decide on a Chief Minister.”
She continued, “It is now crystal clear to the people of Delhi that BJP does not have a single leader capable of running the government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not trust any of his 48 MLAs. He knows that none of them are qualified to govern. He is well aware that the only skill these MLAs possess is looting—looting the people of Delhi, and misappropriating public funds. That is why, despite 10 days passing, PM Modi has not been able to trust a single MLA to take charge as Chief Minister.”
Atishi stated that the reason is simple—BJP ruled the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for 15 years, and every single councillor used that time to plunder the city. They emptied MCD’s coffers. This is why PM Modi does not trust any of his 48 MLAs to run the government. He knows that BJP’s MLAs are only interested in looting the people of Delhi and depleting public funds. Today, it is clear to every Delhiite that BJP does not have even one MLA fit to be Chief Minister.”
“If BJP does not have a single leader competent enough to become CM, how do they plan to run the government? They have no vision for Delhi, no roadmap for development, and no plan to serve the people. The bitter truth has come to light immediately after the elections,” she asserted.
During a media interaction, Atishi asked the BJP: Have they decided whether they are running the government or not? “When Delhi faces frequent power cuts—in Uttam Nagar, Nawada, Sant Nagar, Burari, Trilokpuri, Sangam Vihar, and Deoli, where electricity outages last three to four hours—BJP says, ‘No, Atishi is still the caretaker CM, and she is responsible for Delhi’s power supply.’ But when machines are sent into the Yamuna, suddenly BJP claims that they are in charge and the LG is running the government. BJP needs to clarify—are they governing Delhi or not? If the LG and BJP take responsibility for cleaning the Yamuna, they must also take responsibility for the worsening power cuts that have emerged for the first time after 10 years.”
